Puerto Maldonado is located in southern Peru between Ucayali and Puno regions, across from Cusco. It is the capital of Madre de Dios and features the Obelisk tower and proximity to the Tambopata National Reserve and river. The author enjoys visiting Puerto Maldonado during university breaks to cool off in the river with friends, cook grilled chicken while watching sunsets, and experience the beautiful natural scenery and delicious jungle foods, especially pollo canga and aguaje fruit.

One of my favorite places in Perú is Puerto Maldonado.
It’s between Ucayali and Puno; and in front of Cusco. It's capital of Madre de Dios. There is the central tower of the Obelisk, the river is next the city and near the biodiverse Tambopata National Reserve.
I go there every university vacation. When I'm there; I, my
friends and schoolmates usually go to the river to cool off, we play in the sand; we cook grilled chicken and we watch the sunset. I always enjoy nature.
I like it because it’s a very beautiful and relaxing place. Also,
the food of the jungle is delicious and the fruit too. I especially like to eat pollo canga and I like to eat aguaje, it’s delicious. There's always something different like meeting animals, taking photos of sunsets, getting to know indigenous peoples, the weather and the foods. It’s a great place for short vacations.
