I have always wanted to do volunteer work. If I have the opportunity, I
would volunteer at soup kitchens. They are mainly run by non-governmental organisations (NGOs) like religious bodies, charity associations and generous philanthropists. They provide nutritious meals for homeless and transients. One of the reasons for my choice is to make a difference in someone else’s life by helping people in need by empowering and humbling myself. Another reason for my choice is a way to give back to the community. I also get to meet like-minded people in the course of volunteering. It is also a chance to expand my social circle. It also offers an opportunity for me to share my views and interests to them. I have done my research and would probably volunteer my service at the soup kitchen in Jinjang Utama which is located in the city. Here, my first volunteers will be given a briefing and assigned to teams at designated locations. I can’t wait to start volunteering. Writing A Letter 22, Jalan BP 10/6, Bandar Bukit Puchong 2, 47100 Puchong, Selangor Dear Ben, How are you? I hope you are in the pink of health. As we know, the school holidays are coming. I am writing this letter to invite you to join me on a trip to an interesting local destination. We know that Malaysia is well-known for its holiday destination. We are fortunate that our country is endowed with beaches, islands, highlands, cities and villages. I have just found out about an interesting place called Rimbuan Forest Reserve. It is situated in the north of Johor state. It is one of the oldest rainforests in the world. It is home to thousands of varieties of flora and fauna. It will be a wonderful place to visit. Let me give you a short description of my plan. We will depart from Kuala Lumpur and start our journey before dawn. After more than four and a half hours, we will arrive at our destination. Perhaps, it may be too dark for us to see anything. At first, the dawn breaks and the fly will lighten up. We will be able to see a calm scenery of rubber plantations and orchards. Upon arriving at our destination, we will see a sign board warning tourists about the wild animals crossing. Next, we will reach Pulau Balik Jetty and take a speedboat to cross the lake to the Sri Rimbun Resort. We will stay at the Balik Island. We can go on island cruise to a small island named Pulau Lidah. Then, we can see many interesting and unique plants in every corner of the island. We can take pictures of the unusual plants and insects. There are other activities such as kayaking and water rafting in the crystal clean water. Visitors can observe the pristine and clean water surrounding the island. Other than that, we can enjoy the beauty of the sunrise. However, we need to wake up at the crack of down. We can feel the cold, misty and fresh air and hear all kinds of sounds, birds and other animals in the forest. Another activity is island-hopping. There are speedboats available in surrounding islands. We can go on jungle trekking to reach a viewing tower to get a bird’s eye view of the lake. The view will be spectacular and breath- taking. Lastly, we can visit the Semuat Islands. It is an area covered with colourful fungi and lovely forest flowers of vibrant colours. I hope you will agree to join me on this trip. Please let me know your decision as soon as possible so that I can prepare for this trip. That is all for now.
