roof sheeting and off-cut insulation from site on a weekly basis. We will re-use whatever
material we can, and the material we can’t use we will dispose of in a safe manner.

14) PROTECTION OF NATURAL FEATURES, ARCHAELOGICAL, PALEONTOLOGICAL AND

CULTURAL SITES
Particular care must be exercised when in the vicinity of the areas containing
environmentally sensitive vegetation. A further measure that should be implemented to
conserve fauna and flora systems is to ensure that as few as possible habitats are
fragmented from one another and to rather ensure that there are corridors of habitat.
These corridors will ensure a certain degree of movement.
All fauna within and around the site is protected. Birds and animals shall not be caught or
killed by any means, including poisoning, trapping, shooting or setting snares. Conservation
of as much of natural vegetation as possible will retain much of the existing habitats and as
a result allow for the conservation of certain Avid-faunal species in the area.
Natural features shall not be defaced, painted for benchmarks or otherwise damaged even
for survey purposes, unless permission is granted in writing by the client. It is illegal in terms

If any archaeological or paleontological material (e.g. fossils, bones and are facts) is found,
Tripleweave Construction and Projects shall stop all work immediately in that specific area
and inform SAHRA and arrange for a representative from SAHRA to inspect the material. No

received written permission from SAHRA.

15) AIR QUALITY MANAGEMENT
Activities associated with air pollution will mainly come from dust generation, vehicle
exhaust emissions and unpleasant odours.
Impacts:
Air quality from dust generation can impact negatively on the effects of flora photosynthetic
functioning, potentially increase in breathing ailments to staff and decrease visibility.
Polluted air is a nuisance and unpleasant to landowners in close proximity to the
construction areas. In addition, the decrease in air quality can have an overall contribution
to climate change.
Mitigation measures:
➢ The CHSO will ensure that appropriate measures to minimise the generation of dust
such as, the frequent spraying of roads during low rainfall periods or by using
chemical dust binding agent is implemented by the Principal Contractor.
➢ Dust will be controlled trough the regular watering of active work areas. (where
appropriate)
➢ A maximum speed of 20km/h for all passenger and light commercial vehicles and
10km/h for all heavy vehicles and plant will be enforced on site.
➢ All hazardous chemicals and flammable liquids such as fuel will be correctly labelled
and stored.
