CHAPTER 1

INTRODUCTION

Entrepreneurial Background

In an age marked by rapid globalization and digitalization, the preservation of cultural

heritage and the promotion of intellectual enrichment have never been more crucial. In the heart

of Zamboanga City, where rich Filipino traditions intersect with the modern world, we envision

the establishment of a unique and innovative establishment - a Filipino-cultured library cafe on

Don Navarro Street. This feasibility study explores the viability of such an endeavor, aiming to

not only provide a cozy and inviting space for patrons but also to foster intellectual growth and

deepen the appreciation of Filipino culture.

Our proposed Filipino-cultured library cafe seeks to intertwine the quintessential elements of

a traditional library with the ambiance and flavors of Filipino culture. It is an ambitious project

driven by a passionate belief that literature, art, and heritage are the pillars of intellectual

development and cultural identity. By creating a space where individuals can immerse

themselves in books, engage in meaningful discourse, and savor Filipino-inspired cuisine, we

aim to enrich the lives of the people of Zamboanga City and beyond.

This study will delve into the comprehensive assessment of market demand, financial

feasibility, regulatory considerations, and the cultural impact of our proposed venture. Through

rigorous analysis and consultation with experts, we aim to determine the viability of the Filipino-

cultured library cafe, ensuring it not only becomes a sustainable business but also a cherished

institution that contributes to the intellectual and cultural growth of the community.

The researchers identified the latest market trends that can be highly profitable and

sustainable.
2

The researchers chose to establish a cafe since its market is on an uptrend and highly

preferred by most millennials and Gen Z.

By brainstorming, an excellent location has been navigated that is a midpoint of multiple

schools and offices which is Don Navarro Street, Zamboanga City. The researchers innovated

the idea of adding a library inside the cafe to provide a convenient, quiet, and peaceful

environment for students and office employees who would like to study, work, or rest.

The cafe would produce good quality products such as bread and coffee, that are Filipino-

centric so that the citizens will further appreciate Filipino Culture and Tradition. The researchers

made a short SWOT analysis and identified that there are numerous opportunities ahead for the

business.
