ARTS AND EDUCATION

Direction: Answer the following questions in 3-5 sentences each item.

1. Which one of the 10 salient studies reports is the most impactful in the field of arts education for you?
Explain why.

For me, the one salient studies that is impactful in the field of arts education is that teachers and
students alike benefit from schools that have strong art climates because it stated how arts
instruction can level the socioeconomic playing field between children who may not have access to
these enrichment opportunities outside of school and some of their more privileged peers.

2. In your opinion, is it necessary to establish Aesthetic Development as an independent course subject


in tertiary education? Why or why not?

For me yes, it is necessary to influence the experiencing, feeling, and enjoyment of beautiful things as
a counterbalance to our current rationalized world, every child needs to be planned, aesthetic
education. It is one of the most crucial tasks of the education of children and young people to develop
the ability to appreciate art and beauty and to act in accordance with a sense of proportion, harmony,
and beauty in one's inner and outer life. This is because the modern school strives for the
development of professional knowledge and skills based on intellectual actions.

3. What do you think will happen if the arts will not be taught in schools?

If art is not taught or is not a part of our studies, it will be a great loss. Children benefit from art
instruction in the development of their motor, language, social, decision-making, risk-taking, and
inventive skills. Learning through the visual arts teaches students about color, layout, perspective, and
balance all skills required for academic presentations (visual and digital).
4. How can our creativity develop if our educators are similarly struggle with ambiguity?

A secure setting where one can play, exercise autonomy, and take risks is necessary for creativity. It is
our responsibility as teachers to create a supportive learning environment. The following
recommendations from psychologists and educators will help you foster and develop your students'
creativity.

5. Do you agree with the saying “There is no depth to education without art?” - Amiri Baraka why or why
not? Explain.

Yes, creativity and mindfulness is a form of therapy that promotes relaxation and nourishes the mind,
body, and soul, expressed through art. A student's confidence and morale are stimulated and
energized by the calm and serenity it creates. Early exposure to the arts stimulates the five senses,
resulting in better cognitive and innovative development in students as well as the development of
strong leadership qualities and innate abilities.
