General Laboratory Safety

A must!
Laboratory apparatuses are very
essential in dealing with various
experiments. Chemistry, like any branch
of science, is quantitative and
experimental in nature. Students
will spend their time in the laboratory
investigating and verifying chemical
principles. It is the place where they will
test hypothesis, observe and make
inferences or generalizations as they
explore phenomena. For these activities
or objectives to be realized, the
laboratory is equipped with different
apparatus and equipment.
Rules
➢ Know locations of laboratory safety
showers, eyewash stations, and fire
extinguishers.
➢ Know emergency exit routes.
➢ Avoid skin and eye contact with all
chemicals.
➢ Minimize all chemicals exposures.
➢ No horseplay will be tolerated.
➢ Assume that all chemicals of
unknown toxicity are highly toxic.
➢ Post warning signs when unusual
hazards materials, hazardous
equipment, or other special conditions
are present.
