P-9: Compare the role and responsibilities for strategy implementation in two different organizations Main Concepts

Formal Communication: Formal communication can be defined as, A presentation or written piece that strictly adheres to rules, conventions, and ceremony, and is free of colloquial expressions. It connotes the flow of the data by the lines of authority formally acknowledged in the enterprise and its members are likely to communicate with one another strictly as per channels constituted in the structure. Importance of Formal Communication: It is essential for decision making and planning. It enables the management to secure information without which it may not be possible to take any decision. The quality of managerial decisions depends upon the quality of communication. Informal Communication: Informal communication takes place due to the individual needs of the members of an organization and subsists in every organization. Normally, such communication is oral and may be expressed even by simple glance, sign or silence. Informal communication, is implicit, spontaneous multidimensional and diverse. Importance of Informal Communication: Informal communications builds relationships among staff members and volunteers, and face-to-face interaction is the primary way people communicate informally. But with offsite volunteers, face-to-face interactions can be rare or impossible Teams & Groups: A group can be defined as two or more humans that interact with one another, accept expectations and obligations as members of the group, and share a common identity. By this definition, society can be viewed as a large group, though most social groups are considerably smaller. A team is internally organized, with specific goals and usually with specific roles for different members of the team. Importance of Team: Good teamwork starts with a shared understanding of its importance. Many organizations recruit people with an aptitude for and leaning towards teamwork. Their induction process emphasizes it. The way teams work demonstrates it, although team members have clear and designated responsibilities, they help others when required. Good teamwork behaviour is recognized and rewarded. Teamwork is built into the organization culture - it is a part of the way we do things around here. Importance of groups: Focus on achieving common objectives whatever type of group is formed their main aim would be to achieve their common objectives. Each individual in the group puts in his own expertise, knowledge for the attainment of the group objectives.

Benchmarking: Is the process of identifying and adapting outstanding practices from organizations and companies around the world to assist an organization or company in measuring and improving its performance. It is the process of comparing one's business processes and performance metrics to industry bests and/or best practices from other industries. Dimensions typically measured are quality, time, and cost. Importance of Benchmarking: Benchmarking is a way to achieve your financial goals. Benchmarking encourages you to look for better and unique ideas that can be applicable in your business. Aside from innovative ideas, pushes you to formulate effective practice of operation. People who practice benchmarking in their business often look at their organization and make changes and improvement to make their team or product more competitive.

Implementation of proposed strategy

Communication Process The Communication process will be based on the hierarchy of organization from owner to manager, manger heads of departments, Head of departments to serving staff and it will reverse and respective sequence. Team Fast Food Restaurant management is a team work so all the employees will work like a team. This will be composed of different groups. Groups The groups will be made of serving staff, cooking staff, Reception and Accounts staff and managerial staff which will integrate with each others. Benchmarking The benchmarking is setting standard which is already adopted by well establish firm and work comparatively with that. For this purpose KFC, Sheraz, Habibi and Chief which are well establish food Restaurants will benchmark for Mr. Cod & Celeste. Here are some examples of standard benchmarking of competitor firms: 1. KFC is delivering burger in 5 minutes so Mr. Cod needs to be effective in their activities in order to be efficient 2. They need to start self service like McDonalds and KFC 3. Chief Burgers special burger is 195/-Rs so Celeste should try to keep low their prices because their minimum burger is 250/-Rs Informal communication Informal Communication will take place after duty hours or off the duty hours. This will be based on personal Public relation.

Formal communication Formal Communication will be according to hierarchy of Organization from Owner to manager and to the lower staff while other way vertical communication is adopted and same rank people will have to adopt horizontal type of communication.

Roles and responsibilities for Strategies Implementation in two different Organizations

Mr. Cod Restaurant Mr. Cod has to give exposure to a new market with its current portfolio. Similarly it has to look forward to have its new outlet in Saddar (Peshawar). This is most fruitful market for Mr. Cod due to the following reasons At present in Saddar (Peshawar) there is no competitor on the basis of quality, fast food restaurant and brand image. Peshawar has a good market potentials because people are financially strong Peshawar is saturated with most colleges and universities. Therefore most of the students specially teenagers will go for the fast food Customer Strategy Mr. Cod Restaurant will target upper and upper middle class people of Peshawar, and they have no other choice due to their high prices. To do this, they will have to distribute booklets in upper and upper-middle class areas such as Defense to inform people about their arrival. Delivery should be introduced within months of opening of branch and funds should be arranged properly for that it will give them another competitive edge. Pricing strategy As far as the prices are concerned, Mr. Cod will have to follow the price menu as practiced by other restaurants in Peshawar Pakistan. As its prices are quiet high, the manager must introduce special discounts on 1st month of opening of the branch (e.g. 50% off) to facilitate the customer for dine inn. Mr. Cod manager will not have any other control on the pricing decisions Promotional Strategies Promotion must be done to cover up the pricing set back. Aggressive advertisements campaigns must be carried out throughout the city helping to embed the organization in peoples mind. These campaigns may include visits to schools and universities, bill boarding around the city and ads in the local news papers. Ads in the news papers must be attractive, (may include supermodels or stars as required by looking to the traditional culture of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) and emptive. The extra cost of these promotional campaigns must be kept in mind before opening the branch (as they are not included in the resources budget)

Food Processing Strategy Food processing standards are set by the franchisers which are to be strictly followed whatever the circumstances. Mr. Cod must be possessed with state of the art cooking equipment for complete hygiene control. Employees must be given extensive training on cooking methods for keeping the standards of Mr. Cod intact. Roles and Responsibilities for the given strategy of Mr. Cod Manager The manager of town branch should be responsible for setting targets and strategies for achieving them. The manager should be made responsible for almost all the activities which start from sales, advertisings, dealing with government and customers Sub manager Sub manager should be hired for helping the manager in managing the activities of the outlet. He should be there as an assistant to the manager and should be given full authority of taking decisions in the absent of the manager Account manager Account manager as the name indicates should be mainly responsible for managing accounts of the outlet. Allocating different finance resources and using them effectively to help increasing the firms profits. Managing daily accounts should also be his responsibly. Waiters The responsibilities of waiters in Mr. Cod Restaurant Town Peshawar will be the followings The waiters must take and deliver orders on time To accommodate the customers as per their requirements

Celeste
Celeste inaugurated on February, 2011. I predict that Islamabad may be the best one because of the following factors.

At present in F10 Markaz (Islamabad) there is no competitor on the basis of quality, fast food restaurant and brand image. Islamabad has a good market potentials because people are financially strong Islamabad is saturated with most colleges and universities and elite class people. Therefore most of the students and elite class people will go for the fast food Population of Islamabad is enough to meet the requirements for opening a franchise of Celeste Enough people of upper and upper-middle class to be targeted. There is absence of high class restaurant which can provide food at traditional standards.

Strategy implementation for Expansion of Business on Celeste

Customer Strategy: Celeste target market would be upper and middle class people of Islamabad. Waiters should be trained properly to interact with customers according to their moral values. Hygiene factors must be one of Celeste primary objectives. A mystery shopper should be hired from the local market to keep a check on services provided and inform the management so to keep the customers happy and loyal. Pricing Strategy: Celeste should enter Islamabad with its existing products initially but with little discounts like 15% off on all products to catch the customers. Later on prices can be fixed back to normal once the customers are attracted. Celeste should adopt psychological pricing strategies if we look at the pricing of current market firms like McDonalds and KFC at F10 Markaz Islamabad Promotional Strategies: In addition to the promotional mix devised for its products portfolio will mainly emphasis on billboards furthermore Celeste will be having direct marketing and sales promotion through its salesmen going to local universities, schools and colleges. Inside organization core products should be advertised with the help of posters. Food processing Strategy: Celeste should introduce JIT (just in time) system because of perishable food products and raw materials for which the kitchen should be provided with a normal temperature to keep the food and raw material fresh. All the food products except pizza should be half cooked and micro waves should be used to implement JIT successfully Roles and Responsibilities for the given strategy of Celeste The owner: Celeste is a sole proprietor ship business it does not need a big hierarchy to control its affairs. Owner of Celeste should be responsible for the management which includes hiring and firing of employees, fixing of salaries, dealing with governmental matters laws and policies, he should be an autocratic leader which is the best suitable leadership style for a small business like Celeste. Managers: Responsibilities of managers in Celeste Islamabad should be the followings Managers should assess the owner in achieving the targets They should handle day to day complaints of the customers and assure not to repeat if again

Account managers should be responsible for managing daily and annual accounts Sales manager should be made responsible for increasing the sales by at least 2% in each 3 years Beside all the activities managers should be made responsible for monitoring the performance of the employees The manager should also be made responsible for dealing with raw material suppliers about pricing, timing and quantity of raw materials Manager should also be responsible for allocating raw material for daily use

Supervisors Celeste should have at least two supervisors for the Islamabad outlet in order to have a supervision on each and every activity which managers cant all the time Supervisors should be responsible for supervision of waiters and not letting them to commit any kind of miss behavior with customers Supervisors should be responsible for maintaining cleanliness within the outlet One of the main tasks of supervisors should be to have a check on all the chefs and cooks to cook quality of food items and also to be on time. Because chefs and cooks are actually the heart of the food business Waiters: The responsibilities of waiters in Celeste Islamabad will be the followings The waiter must take and deliver orders on time To accommodate the customers as per their requirements There should be one or two head waiters to have a check only on waiters and allocate their jobs Cooks:

There should be at least 3 cooks in Islamabad outlet They should cook good quality food keeping in mind the taste of the customers

P-10: Identify and evaluate resource requirements to implement a new strategy for a given organization
Importance of resources allocation Resource-allocation is a plan of utilizing the available resources in most effective way, for example human resources, financial resources, technical resources and so on. It is the process of allocating resources to different projects or business units. Like which resource should be present in the plan and what level of funding it should get. There is also priority ranking of products in the plan which shows that which items is important and which item one can leave if the funding is less. So if resource allocation is not done properly then company might not use their resources

at there full capacity and might face lose. For better output one should plan and allocate resources effectively

Resources requirement for Mr. Cod

Land As location is of utmost important when it comes to food business, Mr. Cod should open their branch at saddar, which is saturated with most busy and commercial areas like State Life Building, Imperial Store, Wadud Sons and full of malls which can be access easily from Peshawar City, Defense and Warsak road. Thus the location itself can bring them more customers. Mr. Cod requires land for restaurant with parking. The rent of outlet will cost more or less around Rs 120,000. The Security of building will cost around Rs 200,000 Human Resource Mr. Cod can start off with minimum of 12 employees. These will include 6 waiters, 2 cleanliness control inspectors, 1 manager, 1 sub manager and an accountant. (Sweepers and other staff included). Manager will be given special privileges and he must be qualified, that is to say MBA with work experience. Dynamic personality also counts. Others waiters and sub managers can be appointed as per the rules of the restaurant. On the whole salaries will be around Rs 150,000 Required Equipments Mr. Cod Restaurant will need to buys 20 tables along with 80 chairs, Air Conditioners, Electronic Goods, computer system for saving data, Cooking Equipments, which will cost them Rs/-300,000 and the work break down structure can be seen in Appendix in which I have mentioned the costs of each and every activity and equipments. P-11: Propose targets and timescales for achievement in agiven organisation to monitor a given strategy

Performance Review
Method Study Method study is a systematic recording and evaluation of way of doing work (both existing and proposed) as a means of developing easier, more effective methods and thereby reducing costs. The basic steps in method study are: Select the job to be study Observe and record information about the job and methods used, recording devices taking the form of: Process or flow charts; Motion charts; Layout models and templates;

String diagrams; Film/video; Examine and analysis the information; Identify ways of improving the method, which might take the form of: Eliminating operations; Combining operations; Devising different physical movements; Altering machines or tools; Altering the sequence of operations Eliminating any duplicated efforts Develop revised/improved methods; Implement the new method; Record and evaluate the new method, making adjustments where necessary. (Bruce R Jewell, 2002 p. no.445) Value Analysis An analysis of the main features of a product to see if the same performance and style can be achieved at lower cost (Peter Stimpson, 2002, p. no. 313) There are three main features involve in the design of any new product. These are: Performance; does it have the features looked for by consumers and will it be reliable. Appearance; does it look right? Is the appearance of the product appropriate for the market it is aimed at? Economy of manufacture; can it be made at a cost level that will allow a profit to be made? System Analysis Is the process of analysis method procedures, sequences of activities, like inputs required and output expected in operational? The purpose of system analysis is to improve existing systems. The sequences of activities in system analysis are similar to those involved in method study. Prepare a brief, defining the objectives and constraints on the study itself. Investigate and record data on current system, and procedure: this is done by flow charting. Prepare a specification for the new system, what it will do, and how it will do it. In my opinion Value Analysis technique will be relevant for Celeste because they deal in products so by improving products function as required by their customers which will give them the competitive advantage over their competitors.

Targets and Time scale for Mr. Cod Restaurant

Performance Target In Mr. Cod Restaurant performance targets should be set by the Mr. Cod Restaurant standard and regulated among the employees by the manager of town Peshawar. These targets should be set to keep work force active and also to keep an eye on the performance of the employees. The performance standards should be maintained through recruitment of quality staff New market development and time scale For a new market development a survey of Peshawar should be conducted through specialized firm to help use the resources availability labor and time at optimum. The survey should contain research about the market conditions, competitors, target clients, weather of Peshawar, availability of labor and other factors. The time scale for the survey will be at least 4 weeks then a civil engineer should be hired to draw a design of the new outlet. Furthermore a contract should be drawn with a constructor for the settlements of the new outlet and 3 to 4 months time will be required. During the construction process promotional activities should also be launched side by side with it. After all is done Mr. Cod should shift its products to the new outlet and should start working within passage of time. So the total time for the opening of the new outlet at Peshawar will be 14 weeks Activities Survey of Saddar and around areas Preparation of Outlet Total Time Scale in Weeks 4 16 20

The above Gantt chart graphically shows the targets of Mr. Cod in Peshawar and time scale for completion of the particular targets Market Development Targets As Peshawar is a new market for Mr. Cod one of the first targets will be to capture maximum market share by taking full advantage of their strong reputation in the food market plus by aggressive advertisings and arranging different seminars, concerts etc. school, colleges and university visits can also help Mr. Cod in improving the market share. Mr. Cod must keep the same prices in order to keep its status alive as its an international brand so the reduction of prices seriously affects its market people will diffidently doubt its quality.
