The pie chart illustrates, the main factors involved in less yield from the agricultural land.

The table displays, how three different regions of world were affected by these factors during 1990s.

Overall, it is evident that over-grazing is the highest contributor towards land degradation, in addition to
this, deforestation and over-cultivation were other causes for land degradation worldwide. Moreover, it
is seen that Europe is the most affected region of land degradation.

Over-grazing accounts for 35% of land degradation; making it the major reason for less production. Land
degradation caused by deforestation and over-cultivation is 30% and 28% respectively. Other factors are
hold responsible for 7% land eroision.

North-America is the least affected region among the three regions, 9% of total land degraded, in which
over-cultivation, over-grazing and deforestation accounts for 3.3%, 1.5% and 0.2% respectively. On the
other hand, Europe has the highest proportion of land affected that is 23%. 9.8% caused by
deforestation, 7.7% by over-cultivation, and 5.5% by over-grazing. However, only 13% of total land of
Oceania eroded in 1990s by these factors.
