English.
Task 5 of Module 1 Learning Activity 2
Constructing Announcement
Part 1
Now report the similarities and differences of the four announcements in Task 1 and also
compare them to the spoken announcement.
Similarities : The similarities of the four announcements are having a headline and detail
information. If they are compared to the spoken announcement, both kinds of announcement,
printed and spoken have opening/headline, detail information/essential information, and
contact person if needed.
Differences : The differences of the four printed announcements are on the topics/focuses
and contexts. If they are compared to the spoken announcement, the differences are on the
structure and topics. The structure in printed announcement is more well-organized and clear
compared to the spoken announcement. The topic of printed announcement is only one, while
in spoken announcement there are more than one specific topic, there are some.

Task 7: Reflection/Summary
Announcements

REFLECTION/SUMMARY

In this activity, I have learned about announcement, both printed and spoken announcement.
I have learned about its social function, text structures, and lexicogrammatical features.
Besides, in this learning activity I’ve compared the social function, text structures, and
lexicogrammatical features of some announcements and I’ve constructed an announcement
based on the information provided.

The key features of announcements include social function (to share planned/arranged
activities/agenda), generic structure (headings/purposes, detail information),
lexicogrammatical features (common expression in announcements, singular and plural
nouns with or without article, pronunciation, intonation, spelling, and punctuation marks.

What I like most about this activity are in understanding the key features of announcement
and constructing an announcement based on the provided information.

What I need to improve/learn more is comparing the key features of numerous

announcements based on their contexts.
