ASSIGNMENT 1 – Written Report 1 (40%)

GUIDELINES

CLO 1: Display effective verbal and written communication by evaluating proofread and
edited written texts from various genres.

CLO 2: Demonstrate autonomous learning along with retrieving and managing information in
evaluating proofread and edited written texts from various genres.

CLO 3: Display good managerial skills and entrepreneurial mind set in evaluating proofread
and edited written texts from various genres.

PLO 8: Demonstrate autonomous and responsible leadership capabilities on related tasks.
PLO 10: Demonstrate entrepreneurial skills.

Instructions:
1. You need to choose ONE academic paper or business document.

2. Examples of Academic papers are:


● Extended abstracts

● Journal articles

● Conference proceedings

Examples of Business documents are:

● Resumes and job application cover letters

● Minutes of meetings

● Project proposals

Analyse it with regards to:


a) Context
b) Content
c) Language
3. You are required to submit progress report (individually) to your lecturer.
Progress Report 1 - Week 4
*These reports will be evaluated for your Direct Observation (20%) marks. This is also
dependent on your lecturer’s observation of your commitment and response during
consultation.
4. You need to identify the errors/mistakes in which later you need to rectify them and
provide justifications of your suggested rectification.
5. Write a report based on your analysis along with the samples for each error/ mistake
and justifications of your suggested rectification.
6. You will be assessed based on:
i) effective, matured, and well-elaborated justifications in analysing the identified
errors/ mistakes.
ii) the ability to organise ideas in the report effectively, maturity in decision-making
and effective time management in assignment submission.
iii) the ability to demonstrate efficient autonomous learning.
