Addis Cosmo
SUMMARY
Addis cosmo plans to join the Ethiopian cosmetics market through the production of
various type of products, for instance hair foods(hair pomades),hair oil, Vaseline and glycerine.
Most of the Ethiopian population is in the range from infant to 60years of age. This age group is
known for high consumer of cosmetics products. Moreover, the huge population of Ethiopia
which is estimated to be over 120 million, and constantly growing at a rate of 4% per annum, is
considered to be a huge cosmetics market. As far as, marketing data tells us there is a huge
market gap between demand and supply of cosmetics; which means the demand is in a great
deal outweigh that of supply. Hence, Addis cosmo aim to exploit the market opportunity out lay
in the existing market. However, the majority of target market is characterized by lower income
earners, this compelled Addis cosmo to strategize its product mix to widely known and

- Make sure that all the heaters are working properly.

-Set the temperature of the boiler at 75oc, maximum.

- Start heating the machine by pressing the yellow button.

- Add all the needed raw materials (waxes and paraffin oil) step by step.

- Start (push on) the mixer in order to mix the raw materials in the machine for five minutes in
every ten minute interval.

- Continue mixing till the solution is clear and homogenized, and then put off heating when
the temperature reaches 75oc.

- Finally, open the lower hand valve of the boiler and start filling.

3. Standard in process quality assurance procedure

- Make sure and check that all the incoming raw materials (waxes & paraffin oils) are as per the
needed standard.

-Check each raw material for its specification and make sure that each raw material is weighed
in its correct ratio as per the batch prepared.

- Cross check that the melting boiler (mixer) is clean and ready for wax melting & mixing
process.

- Follow during raw materials (waxes & oils) addition to the boiler whether they are in their
correct ratios.

- Check out that, the temperature of the boiler is set at 75oc, if not inform to the operator to
adjust it.

- Cross-check in time intervals whether the mixing process is ongoing as per the standard set.

- In case of process failure, inform for adjustment to the process quality control chemist.

2

- Evaluate results according to the objectives, that is, the performance of processes and work
products against process descriptions, standards and procedures.

- Identify and raise noncompliance issues.

- Provide feedback to staff and report to management about the results of quality assurance
activities.

4. Batch manufacturing record (BMR)
