TIME

I.OBJECTIVES At the end of the lesson, the learners are expected to:
a. identify what is addition and subtraction from whole numbers up to
100 including money,
b. appreciate the importance of addition and subtraction in our daily
live and,
c. solve addition and subtraction problems using manipulatives.
A. CONTENT The learner demonstrates understanding of whole numbers up to 100,
STANDARD ordinal numbers up to 10th money up to PhP100 and fraction ½ and ¼.
B. PERFORMANCE The learner is able to apply addition and subtraction of whole numbers
STANDARD up to 100 including money in mathematical problems and real-life
situations.
C. LEARNING The learner Illustrate addition as “putting together or combining or
COMPETENCY joining sets”.
The learner visualizes and adds to-digit numbers with sums up to 18
using the order and zero properties of addition.
The learner adds two one-digit numbers using appropriate mental
techniques e.g. adding doubles and/or near-doubles.

Teachers Activity Students Activity
A. Preliminary Activities
1. Prayer
Everyone please stand up and let us Lord, thank you for all the blessings that we
all pray. receive each day. We are very sorry for all the
wrong things we’ve done. May you guide us in
doing our activity this day. This I ask in the
name of Jesus Christ our Lord Amen.

2. Greetings
Good afternoon, everyone. Good afternoon, Ma’am.
3. Checking of Attendance
(Teacher will call the names of the
students.
B. Motivational Activity
Before we begin our lesson for today.
We will have a group activity which is
ANSWER ME!

Teacher will show and read the Yes, Ma’am.

problems for you and you as a group will
decide who will answer the problem.
The first group who can answer will gain
5 points. Are you excited?

First problem. What is the answer of it? Student will answer.

Correct, you’re right!

Second problem. What is the answer of Student will answer.

it?

Correct. Very Good!

Last problem. What is the answer of it? Student will answer.

Amazing. Great Job students!

wow, you already have a little bit
knowledge about our lesson for today.

C. Presentation
The following problems that you have
answered a while ago are some
examples of addition and subtraction.

(Use some illustrations that shows

addition and subtractions examples)

When we say addition, it is a process of

adding. Addition uses plus (+) symbol.
Any numbers that are added together
are called ADDENDS. The result of
adding numbers or quantities is called
SUM.
For example:
1. 2+1 = 3 8 ballpens Ma’am.
2. Jessa buy 2 red ballpens and 6 black
ballpens. How many ballpens did
Jessa have?
Subtraction is the opposite of addition.
When we say subtraction, it is when you
take one number away from another.
Subtraction uses minus (-) symbol.
For example:
1. 3-2 = 1 2 Ma’am.
2. Jose has 5 oranges and he gave 3 to
Marco. How many oranges left on
Jose?
D. Discussion
Let us try this activity.
1. Beth has 74 crayons. She gives 25 of
them away to Jen. How many
crayons dos Beth have left?
Who can answer this problem? I will
give you 1 minute to solve it and
rase your hand if you already know
the answer. Understood? Yes ma’am.

Student will answer, 49 crayons Ma’am.

Very good. You’ve got the correct
answer.

2. Amie has 4 apples and buy 5 apples 9 Ma’am.

more. How many apples Amie have?

Correct. You’re right.

3. Ivy 3 balloons and buy 10 more. 13 Ma’am.

How many balloons did Ivy have in
all?

E. Generalization
If we are going to add numbers Addition.
together, what mathematical operation
should we use?

If we are going to take one number Subtraction

away from another, what mathematical
operation should we use?

F. Evaluation

addition problem and 1 subtraction
problem with a solution to be submitted
next meeting.
