1. What is our topic yesterday? It’s all about Place value
2. What is Place value? Place value is the value of each digit in
a number.

pencil together.

Pencil teacher
1. What did you see in the picture? 8 pencils teachers
2. How many pencils do we have?
Discussion (student will listen to the discussion)
Addition- putting numbers together.
Addend- a number to be added to
another
Sum- a result or an answer.
Different symbol that we will use in
addition;
+ Plus sign
= Equal sign
Different types of Properties of
addition
1. Commutative Property of
Addition (CPA) changing the order
addends does not change the sum.
Example:
4+3=7 then 3+4=7
2. Associative Property of Addition
(APA) changing the grouping of
addends does not change the sum.
Example: (8+7)+2
(8+7)+2 = 8+(7+2)
15+2 8+9
17 = 17
3. Identity Property of Addition (IPA)
the sum of a number and zero is the
same number.
Example:
8+0=8 or 0+35=35

Adding two- to three-digit numbers

Step 1: arrange the numbers in column.
Step 2: add the digits from one’s place
first.

1. 4+4=
2. 6+6=
3. 3+7=
4. 0+1=
5. 8+7=
B. Give the missing addend or sum. (student will answer their activity by
Then identify the property of addition pair)
shown in each number. Write CPA,APA,
and IPA only.
1. 3+9+6=___+9+3 ________
2. (8+3)+___=8+(3+6) ________
3. ___+8=8 ______
4. 12+9=9+___ _______
5. 76+0=____ ________
Analysis
1. What is the meaning of CPA? Commutative property of addition
2. What is the meaning of APA? Associative property of addition
3. What is the meaning of IPA? Identity property of addition
