B. Motivation
Introductory Activity:
(5 minutes) Teacher prepares a list of pupils celebrating their birthdays for the month of April. Teacher
displays a big calendar on the board. Asks the celebrants to circle the date of their birthdays. Let
the class sing happy birthday for them.

Activity: 1. The teacher asks, “When is your birthday?” and calls on the other children. Ask: “What can you
(10 minutes) say about your birthday? Do they fall on the same month?
2. Let the pupils look at the calendar and count the number of months. Teacher names the
months and asks the pupils to repeat the names.
3.Talk about each month. Let the pupils talk about the events we celebrate each month.
4. Post on the board the cards with names on the months. Let the pupils read. Then the teacher
will ask, “Which is the 1st month? The 3rd month?
5. Show the cards like this.

The teacher will ask the pupils to arrange the months in correct sequence. Use numbers to show
the correct sequence.

6. Let the pupils discover that some months have 31 days, others have 30 days.
The teacher will introduce the song, “Months of the Year”

A. Guide the class in enumerating the months of the year without looking at the calendar or chart.
There are 12 months in a year.
The first month is January.
Abstraction: The twelve months are January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September,

B. The teacher will ask the pupils, Its mother’s birthday, you don’t have money to buy her a gift?
What can you give her to make her happy? Do you do the same thing for other people? Why?
