Operation
The service codes for the hydraulic hammer are in the following list: 86, 87, 88 and 8A.
The service codes are used in order to adjust the main hydraulic pump flow. The flow
is adjusted in order to correspond with the flow that is required for a hydraulic hammer.
Three different parameters can be set and stored into the memory of the controller. The
parameters are in the following list:

• Number of Main Hydraulic Pumps

• Circuit Pressure of the Hydraulic Hammer

• Pump Flow that is Required

Use the following procedure in order to enter the hammer mode. The user mode button
(5) is depressed in order to enter the hammer mode.

The controller will regulate the power shift pressure in order to regulate the main
pumps so that the flow requirements or the pressure requirements for the hammer or
other attachments is not exceeded.

These parameters, that are set in the user mode, will only affect the main pump
operation while the hammer pedal is activated individually. In addition to these
parameters, the controller will automatically change the power shift pressure so that the
flow rates of the pump are changed in order to compensate for the change in the engine
speed.

Before an attempt to adjust the parameters is made, refer to the operation manual for
the hammer for the proper pump flow and pressure settings.

Parameter Settings Of The Hammer

Mode
1. Hammer Mode

The hammer mode can be selected by the user mode switch. The hammer mode is
used for attachments that require less oil flow. While such an attachment is
operated, the power shift pressure is kept constant at a certain pressure.

When the hammer mode is activated, the power shift pressure is controlled at a
certain pressure in order to keep the pump flow constant only while the hammer
pedal is being pushed. The controller will change the power shift pressure in order
to offset the change in the flow of the pump, when the position of the engine
speed dial is changed. This pressure change is caused by the change in the engine
speed.

When the pressure is 13.7 MPa (1987 psi), the maximum flow and the minimum
flow that is supplied to one pump is listed:

2. Types Of Parameters

There are three types of parameters in the hammer mode. The following examples
are some types: the number of pumps that are used, the pressure of the circuit for
the hammer and the pump flow.

3. Setting The Parameters

Perform the following checks, if you are operating a hammer with a maximum
pump flow of 250 L/min (66 US gpm). Check the following items when the pump
flow is for one pump:

Check Specifications : Check the operation manual for the hammer for the
required settings for pressure and settings of the pump flow.

https://127.0.0.1/sisweb/sisweb/techdoc/techdoc_print_page.jsp?returnurl=... 12/09/2023

a. Check Specifications Of The Hammer : Check the operation manual for the
hammer for the required settings of pressure and settings for pump flow. The
maximum setting of pump flow is 250 L/min (66 US gpm).

b. Set The Number Of Pumps : This parameter is "1". Select "1", if one pump
is required to send hydraulic oil to the hammer. See "Setting The Number Of
Pumps".

c. Hammer Circuit Pressure Setting : Enter the required pressure for a hammer.
The required pressure is identical to the description in the specifications for
the hammer. For example, if the pressure setting for the hammer is 17700
kPa (2567 psi), the formula is listed: 1 MPa () equals 1000 kPa () and 17700
kPa () divided by 1000 equals 17.7 MPa (2567 psi). Enter 18 MPa (2610 psi)
by rounding off the result. See "Setting The Circuit Pressure".

d. Set The Pump Flow For The Hammer: Enter the required pump flow for a
hammer. See "Setting The Pump Flow". The required pump flow is identical
to the description in the specifications for the hammer. Refer to item 6, if the
speed of the hammer is a problem.

The following check should be performed, when the hammer is being

operated with a maximum pump flow of 250 L/min (66 US gpm) and the
flow of two pumps is through a combined function auxiliary line or a
combined attachment for the flow of two pumps:

◾ Check The Specifications : Check the operations manual of the

hammer for the required pressure settings and settings for the pump
flow.

Note: When the pressure is 13.7 MPa (1987 psi), the maximum flow and the
minimum flow that is supplied to two pumps is listed:

e. Set The Number Of Pumps : Select parameter "2", if two pumps are
required. Two pumps are required in order to send hydraulic oil to the
hammer through the combined function auxiliary line. See "Setting The
Number Of Pumps".

f. Set The Pressure Of The Circuit For The Hammer : Enter the pressure that is
required for the hammer. The pressure that is required for the hammer can
be found in the specifications for the hammer. For example, if the pressure
setting for the hammer is 17700 kPa (2567 psi), the formula is listed: 1 MPa
() equals 1000 kPa () and 17700 kPa () divided by 1000 equals 17.7 MPa
(2567 psi). Enter 18 MPa (2610 psi) by rounding off the result. See "Setting
The Circuit Pressure".

g. Set The Flow For The Hammer Mode : Enter the required pump flow for the
hammer. See "Setting The Pump Flow". The required pump flow can be
found in the specifications for the hammer. Refer to item 6 when the speed
of the hammer is a problem.

4. Set The Parameter That Requires High Flow To A Hammer : See the following
information for a hammer that requires a flow rate of 250 L/min (66 US gpm) or
more through the combined function auxiliary line:

a. Set the number of pumps to be used: Enter "1". See "Setting The Number Of
Pumps".

b. Set the pressure for the hammer : Enter the pressure that is calculated by
using the following formula:

◾ For example, if the pressure setting for the hammer is 17700 kPa (2567
psi), the formula is listed: 1 MPa () equals 1000 kPa () and 17700 kPa
() divided by 1000 equals 17.7 MPa (2567 psi). Enter 18 MPa (2610
psi) by rounding off the result. See "Setting The Circuit Pressure".

c. Set the pump flow to the hammer : Enter the flow that is calculated with the
following formula:

◾ The required flow that is described in the specification for the hammer
is multiplied by 1/2. See "Setting The Pump Flow".

5. Preset The Hammer Mode : Select the "U2" Mode when a hydraulic hammer is
used with auxiliary lines for the flow of two pumps. The maximum pump flow
will be sent to the hammer, if the operator selects a work mode that is not "U2"
resulting in damage to the hammer. This problem can be avoided by using a
special security code to reset the preset of the hammer mode from the OFF
position to the ON position.

After this change is made to the software, the correct flow will be sent to the
hammer when the pedal for the hammer is activated. The settings of the work
mode do not affect this procedure.

Note: The machine is set in the OFF position at the factory.

a. Access the service mode. Then, enter the service code "080251".

b. When "10" or "80" is display on the monitor, enter the new service code
"89" on the character display.

c. The slow mode switch (25) is pressed in order to move the character to the
right of the character display.

d. Depress the boom priority mode switch (23) in order to display the "ON" or
"OFF" character.

e. Enter the following characters on the character display as shown "89ON".

f. The functions that are set by using the above procedure are memorized by
depressing the alarm cancel switch "22". The blinking character on the
character display will return to the position of the service mode, after the
functions have been memorized.

◾ When "ON" is being displayed the following information is applicable:

By pushing the hammer pedal, the hammer mode "U2" is activated under
any work mode in order to allow the flow from the pump to flow to the
hammer.

◾ When "OFF" is being displayed the following information is

applicable:

The hammer mode is deactivated, in case the hammer pedal is pushed while
the work mode has been selected. Therefore, the hammer mode is not
activated. Also, all of the pump flow may go to the hammer. This can cause
the hammer to fail.

6. Adjust The Parameter.

a. The expected speed of the hammer may not be achieved. This is caused by
the roughness of the associated components, even though the parameters are
set to the descriptions in items 3 and item 4. The setting of the pump flow is
adjusted in order to achieve the expected speed of the hammer. The speed of
the hammer will decrease if the setting for the pump flow is increased.
Check the hydraulic system, if the speed of the hammer does not change
after being adjusted properly.
