Heat EffectsTemperature (2020)
Heat EffectsTemperature (2020)
Part 1
Can our bodies judge temperatures accurately?
•
hot warm cold
A metal object (eg. chair leg)
• Carpet or other cloth object (that you are not in contact
with)
Heat energy… is energy that is moving
from a warmer to a cooler object.
HEAT
Heat is always transferred from
warmer to cooler objects,
objects warm up because they
gain heat energy.
objects cool down because
they lose heat energy.
HEAT
If two objects at different temperatures are left in
thermal contact (so that heat can move between
them), they will eventually reach the same
temperature.
Change in temperature
Temperature
… a measure of how hot or cold an object is.
… is a measure of the average kinetic energy of the
particles in an object.
