Pharmacology is the science that deals with the effects of drugs on the living

system, its preparation, uses as well as its mechanism of action and side effects
also it came from two words:

Pharmacodynamics ‫ الديناميكا الدوائية‬:

It deals with effect of drugs on the body it includes mechanism of action &
physiological effect of drugs

Mechanism of action:: ‫آلية العمل‬

1- on the cell membrane such as: ‫على غشاء الخلية مثل‬

A. Action on specific receptors like effect of prazosin on receptor.
‫التأثير على مستقبالت معينة مثل تأثير البرازوسين على المستقبل‬
B. Through interference with a selective passage of ions across cell membrane
like verapamil which is Ca channel blocker.
‫من خالل التداخل مع المرور االنتقائي لأليونات عبر غشاء الخلية مثل فيراباميل وهو مانع لقنوات‬
‫الكالسيوم‬
2- on metabolic process: ‫على عملية التمثيل الغذائي‬
A. mono amino oxidize inhibitor(MAOI) like phenelzine
‫مثبط األكسدة األمينية األحادية مثل الفينيلزين‬
B. In corporation of drug molecules like 5-flouro uracil in to mRNA.
‫ فلورو يوراسيل في حمض نووي رايبوزي‬-5 ‫في اتحاد جزيئات الدواء مثل‬
c. Changing of metabolic such in case of antibiotic like penicillin inhibit cell wall
synthesis.

3- outside the cell: ‫خارج الخلية‬

A. direct chemical interaction like Antacid

A. Osmosis as in case of purgative or laxative like MgSo4.

It deals with the effect of body on drugs that includes absorption, distribution,
metabolism, excretion.

Like digoxin 70% absorbed orally, 25% bound plasma proteins, volume of
distribution high, partially metabolized in liver & excreted or changed in kidney
half-life is about (36) hours.

methods of treatments for the condition procedure.

Pharmacy: ‫الدوائية‬
It is the science f prepared compounding act dispensing of drugs in which it is an
agent that inter act with the living system so as to produce response
‫هو علم تحضير الفعل المركب لتوزيع األدوية الذي يكون فيه عامال يتفاعل مع الجهاز الحي ليحدث‬
‫االستجابة‬
