I. OBJECTIVE
Compare mass in grams or kilograms using < > symbols
Estimate the mass of an object in grams or kilograms
Maintain order in performing the group activities

2. Weighing scale with gram and kilogram scales, Objects of different sizes and masses (vlike: pack of
powdered milk, pack of sugar, fruits, and others)

PRELIMINARY ACTIVITIES
DRILL
Show pairs (one is heavy, and the other is light) of objects to the class.
Call a volunteer. Let him/her feel the weight of the two objects using his/her hands. Which is heavier?
Lighter?
REVIEW
Review past lesson.
DEVELOPMENTAL ACTIVITIES
MOTIVATION
Show to the class a picture of fruits, vegetables, or root crops available in the community.

Ask:
Do you eat fruits? Vegetables or root crops?
Are these foods good to your health?

PRESENTATION
Let the pupils tell which one is greater/heavier in each of the following pairs of masses. Can use words
(greater or less) and symbols (<, >) in comparing the masses.

Discuss how to compare mass in grams or kilograms
