Laws of Physics

Introduction to NLM
Laws of Physics

Are they just mathematical equations?

Mathematicians are only dealing with the structure of the reasoning and they
do not really care about what they're talking about. They don't even need to
know what they're talking about, as they themselves say, or whether what they
say is true. ----- Richard P. Feynman
Mathematics ko samajh nahi aata

1. Absolute and Relative quantities.

2. Universal and Conditional Laws.
3. Causality.
1. Absolute vs Relative quantities
Importance of Observer/frame
1. Absolute vs Relative quantities
Importance of Observer/Frame Observer adds his own perspective

Is your father rich? Depends on person

Is this place far ? Depends on person

Dilli aa gaya kya? or Depends on person

Train aa gayi kya? Depends on person

1. Absolute vs Relative quantities
Rich and poor
(poll --- yes for absolute, no for relative)

Velocity vs time

Acceleration vs length

Distance travelled vs distance between two points

Charge? Mass? Force?

Sir, sawal accurate kaise karte hain? Yeh batao.

Wow !!! finally good question.

Almost there !!!!

2. Laws of Physics

Universal and Conditional Laws

Death vs being famous

Murder vs driving side

Universal Gravitational Law vs Ohm’s law for conductors

Maxwell’s equations vs Newton’s equations of motion for uniformly accelerated motion

Conservation Laws vs Bernoulli’s equations for steady, streamline & irrotational flow of non-viscous,
Newtonian fluid
Why do we need conditional law?
Are conditional laws wrong?

Are conditional laws useless?

Can we avoid conditional laws?

3. Causality
Cause must precede effect.

Infection precedes fever

Good studies precedes good marks

Voltage applied precedes current

Heat supplied precedes thermal expansion

Force precedes acceleration

We must study Cause to understand effect better
Need to interpret many Laws of physics (especially written in mathematical form) in cause
and effect terms.
Newton’s Laws of Motion
ohh!!! Finally
Newton’s Laws
1st Law

2nd Law

3rd Law

Does not talk about cause of Force

Cause of Force
Where does Force comes from? What is Force?

(do we need to go so fundamental? Lets just solve problems fast

Or We want to solve problems accurately )

Outside atomic nucleus
we have 2 origin of forces-

● Coulombic Force→
(Charge-charge interaction)

● Gravitational Force→
(mass-mass interaction)
Inside atomic nucleus
we have 2 more causes of forces-

● Strong Nuclear Force

● Weak Nuclear Force

We will briefly deal with above forces in the last chapter of Jee
Physics.
There is no cause/type of force
other than 2 discussed
