1、 Overview
1.1 Preface

The new generation of HAPCON® bridge navigational watch alarm system (HTC-BNW)

has been developed and manufactured according to MSC128.(75) of IMO and IEC62616. It

can be easily used in a variety of ships’ building and old vessels to renew with it’s compact

shape, stable and reliable control system.

This operation manual described the standard configuration of bridge navigational watch

alarm system. Specific system may contain more components with extended function, its

composition and description can be referred in specific manual.

1.2 Purpose

The purpose of this manual is designed to help operators on ship to understand the basic

functions and principles of the bridge navigational watch alarm system, so the operators can

operate the system correctly.

1.3 Safety Instructions

 PERSONNEL

Repair and maintenance personnel must be trained by our company. The maintenance

personnel should be informed that the possible faults and read the relevant security

instructions before inspection.

 ATTENTION

Operators must ensure that equipment should be in normal working status before

using the equipment

 Preventing water into the equipment

 Please cutting off the device power supply immediately when equipment is found

smoking or emitted abnormal smell.

 Preventing any sundries to enter into the device.

 Test

Press “Reset/Test” key for 2 seconds at the same time, all digital tube will be lighting and

flashes, all connected horns will be alarming; all connected indicated light will be flashing.

 Troubleshooting

 The BNWAS countdown doesn’t work

In the general case of the countdown doesn’t work

 Check whether the system activation on duty-----the system in active the countdown

will work ,just as the key of system is “on” and the model set on hand, then the

system work

 Reset unit----each reset unit of signal shall short circle. The system can be take six

manually reset unit input, check the six terminals of I/O control on ST2, make sure the

reset unit is reliable connection, if there is no access on terminals on ST2, to be sure

the line number 1# an line number 4#(on terminals is I and p+) is short circle

 Motion reset unit----same as reset unit, check the motion reset unit line number 1#

and line number 4#(on terminals is i9 and p+)is short circle, close loop.

 Extension/reset unit doesn’t work

General problem of the extension/reset unit is alarm indicator light not work and buzzer

not sound, this is usually due to a faulty wiring, check the line number is carefully.

The alarm indicator light not work testing both ends 24v voltage input, 24V whether at

the positive and negative, this to detect the quality of the lights

 Emergency call

Only the system on duty activation can be emergency call, emergency call is all

system alarm, equivalent to three-stage alarm of system, can not aimed at a particular

room to the call.

 System alarm

Usually means the operation panel and host communication failures, sometimes

is operation panel internal line fault. Self-test will be alarm ouput and panel shows”

E1”.check carefully the line between operation panel and host connecting.

 self- test instructions

When the system self-check test, normal operation panel display system version and

14
software version, such as respectively show "the A8" "C3", self-test process take turns

show. When there is "1", "2", "3", "4 ", "5", "6 ", code, means the system access

corresponding reset eunit 1 road, the 2 road is breaks down, then to check the

corresponding reset unit connection, view each reset unit line 1 # and 4 # whether short

carcle . Operation panel display "E1" means system failure, this code can viewon

operation manual

 Motion detection fault

If there is fault of motion fault ,the motion doesn’t work, In addition to check the wiring

outside, please report to the manufacturer repair or replacement spare, motion detection

factory has tested before send out,you do not need to repair it..

If the system appears the other problems that cannot be solved, please contact us.

8. Guidelines for BNWAS Installation
(1) Reset devices:

(i) At least one reset device should be provided near each conning position in the

wheelhouse. More reset devices may be provided to the workstations for navigation,

manoeuvering and monitoring in order for safe and effective operation, if desired.

A reset function may be initiated by motion sensors and navigational equipment such as

radar, auto-pilot, ECDIS, INS, etc.

(ii) One reset device should be provided to each bridge wing.

Where it is easy to reset a first stage alarm by a reset device located nearby in the

wheelhouse, reset devices are not required to be fitted at bridge wings.

(2) Visual indicators and First stage audible alarms

(i) A visualindicator and first stage audible alarm are to be provided in the wheelhouse.

When they are combined with a reset device, individual visual indicators and first stage

alarms are not required.

(ii) A visualindicator and first stage audible alarm are to be provided in the bridge wings.

Where a reset device is not provided in the case of l(ii) above, the following functions are

required:

- Flashing indicator in the wheelhouse should be visible from an operational position

on the bridge wing; and

- First audible alarm in the wheelhouse should be audible from an operational

position on the bridge wing

(3) Second stage audible alarms and Third stage audible alarms

(i) Second stage audible alarms should be located in the Captain's bedroom and Deck

officer cabins.

In case where there are three deck officers on board ,one deck officer for duty may be

selected from the main panel and the alarm in the Captain's bedroom may be changed to a

third stage one.

(ii) Third stage alarms should be located in the officer's Mess room,Saloon,Recreation

room and ship's office.

(4) BNWAS should be supplied by both an AC source (Main and Emergency source) and a

DC source (ship's batteries or batteries contained within the device)

16
(5) BNWAS for ships constructed on or after 1July 2011 are to connected with the following

mandatory equipment required by SOLAS.

(i) Heading Contrfol System and Track Control System

(ii) Voyage Data Recorder (VDR)

(6) With respect to small ships, BNWAS installations may be designed according to relaxed

requirements in cases where such requirements are specified by the Flag State.

(7) An emergency call facility may be provided.
