1、 Overview
1.1 Preface
The new generation of HAPCON® bridge navigational watch alarm system (HTC-BNW)
has been developed and manufactured according to MSC128.(75) of IMO and IEC62616. It
can be easily used in a variety of ships’ building and old vessels to renew with it’s compact

2、System Brief Description
The bridge navigational watches alarm system can ascertain the status of duty officer and
monitoring the duty officer’s good vigilance. Turn the key switch to start-up system, you have
three selection mode:” Manual off mode”, ” Manual on mode”” Automatic mode”. Under”
Manual off mode”, System does not run in any status; Under ”Manual on mode”, the time
showed on digital tube will be countdown from the initial default of 3 minutes. When the
countdown to zero, operation panel and the light(s) on Reset Board flashing to pre-alarm. It
appearsⅠ-level sound and light alarm if pre-alarm continued up to 15 seconds and Reset
button is not pressed.Ⅱ-level sound and light alarm will appears if Ⅰ-level sound and light
alarm continued up to 15 seconds and Reset button is not pressed. Ⅲ-level sound and light
alarm will appears if Ⅱ-level sound and light alarm continued up to 90 seconds and Reset
button is not pressed,that is, all indicator lights on Reset Board and Extension Alarm Board will
appears sound and light alarm, until the Reset Button is pressed. When the Reset Button is
pressed, the system re-timing and starts the next cycle .Under” Automatic mode”, system
waits for the signals from autopilot and working steering to enable the equipment e, start a new
normal countdown working state. At the same time, the system can receive the signals from
radar, VDR, Electronic Chart and motion detection etc,, the system can reset the dormant
time.

6.2 Operation Settings
Turn the key from ”OFF” to “ON’, press “+” or“–” to increase or decrease
the setting value of dormant time within 30 seconds. Setting range:3 minutes~
Turn the key from ”OFF” to “ON’, press “MODE” key to switch duty mode
Press and hold “backup” key 3 seconds, reserve person can be switched
once. General backup duty personS are one of Captain, mate, 2nd. officer, 3rd.
officer.
System self -check function can be carried on under any circumstances, press
“RESET/TEST” key, the system begins to self-test, the reset unit and the
extension alarm unit connected to the system will be flashing and the alarm rings.
Pressing the key “RESET/TEST” again, the sound will be mute and light will
not be flashing
System default setting has three level alarm mode. According to the practical
requirements of different vessels, the level mode can be changed to two level
extension alarm mode. That is to say, in two level extension alarm mode, all
extension alarm units will appear sound and light alarm (Except for passenger ships).
Setting method: Generally based on users’ requirements, system had been setting

well before delivery from factory. The setting method is not open to users.
6.3.2 Delay the interval time for 2nd and 3rd alarm
System default that the Interval time between 2nd. And 3rd. level is 90 seconds. For
large ships this interval time may be extended to the maximum 3 minutes. Setting
method : Generally based on users’ requirements system had been setting well
before delivery from factory. The setting method is not open to users.
Bridge navigational watch alarm system can be optional to equip with infrared and
microwave motion detector. When detected OOW activities, dormant time will be
automatically reset.
To ensure the safety of the system settings (protection set to the dormant time and
duty mode), usually the captain keeps the key and he is the only person who lets the

System self-test:Pressing “test” key, system sound and light alarm will give
Sound mute and not flashing: When the new nautical equipment appears fault,
the green lamp is changed to red lamp and flashing meanwhile the sound
alarm giving out. Pressing ACK key to mute the sound and red lamp stops
flashing.

7、System Maintenance
Test
Press “Reset/Test” key for 2 seconds at the same time, all digital tube will be lighting and
flashes, all connected horns will be alarming; all connected indicated light will be flashing.
Troubleshooting
Check whether the system activation on duty-----the system in active the countdown
will work ,just as the key of system is “on” and the model set on hand, then the
system work
Reset unit----each reset unit of signal shall short circle. The system can be take six
manually reset unit input, check the six terminals of I/O control on ST2, make sure the
the line number 1# an line number 4#(on terminals is I and p+) is short circle
Motion reset unit----same as reset unit, check the motion reset unit line number 1#
and line number 4#(on terminals is i9 and p+)is short circle, close loop.
General problem of the extension/reset unit is alarm indicator light not work and buzzer
not sound, this is usually due to a faulty wiring,check the line number is carefully.

If there is fault of motion fault ,the motion doesn’t work, In addition to check the wiring
outside, please report to the manufacturer repair or replacement spare, motion detection
factory has tested before send out,you do not need to repair it..

8. Guidelines for BNWAS Installation
(1) Reset devices:
(i) At least one reset device should be provided near each conning position in the
wheelhouse. More reset devices may be provided to the workstations for navigation,
manoeuvering and monitoring in order for safe and effective operation, if desired.
A reset function may be initiated by motion sensors and navigational equipment such as
