    Navigation. I find these 2 ATA chapters very complicated
    as it gives me brain fog while going through all the level 3
    books .
    *- AFDS(Auto pilot Flight Director System) Controls the
    attitude of the airplane , supplies indications and Flight
    Director commands so that flight crew can manually
    control attitude of airplane. It can control all flight phases
    EXCEPT take off. Takeoff is F/D only. The B787 is not
    certified for takeoff with Autopilot Engaged.
    °
    *The MCP( Mode Control Panel) is the primary interface
    between the flight crew and the AFDS. The AFDS operates
    in 2 modes A/P and FD.
    °
    *Climb/continous-when 2 engines are in operation, this
    switch changes autothrottle thrust reference from takeoff
    to climb. When only one engine operation, it changes
    thrust reference to maximum continous.
    °
    *Autothrottle switch engage sends request to thrust
    management function to engage the autothrottle.
    °
    *IAS/MACH -the IAS (indicated airspeed)/Mach selects the
    reference for the IAS display window. The upper line of the
    IAS shows target speed. IAS shows from 100kt to 399kts
    knots in one knot increments . Mach shows from 0.400 to
    0.900 Mach in increments of 0.001 Mach. At power up, the
    window shows 200KTS IAS.
