IRFD AD 2.1 AERODROME INFORMATION

Overview

Greater Rockford Airport is the main airport of Rockford. Within PTFS, it has acted as the main airport in
the game, being the most popular.

Use of stands

The main terminal is only for airliners. Stand number 4 and 5 are for larger airliners (B777, A330, A380
etc.). The spawning ramp can be used for light aircraft, small cargo freighters and reposition aircraft. Stand
6, 7, 11 and 12 should only be used by small airliners or prop aircraft. The east apron with the hangars is
only for GA aircraft. Stand 8, 9 and 10 are only for cargo aircraft.

IFR clearance

Initial contact is with Clearance Delivery, reporting callsign, stand number, and latest ATIS identification
letter and QNH. Be aware that at most of the time, initial clearance is with Polaris Control.

Push-back

Most of the terminal gates will have straight-back pushes, however a few will require turn-pushes. If you are
parked at stand 5, face north/south on B. From the Cargo Terminal, tail discretion facing south on Bravo.

Taxi

Taxi instructions at Rockford includes the full taxi route, however the runway intersection is not always
included. If for example “holding point runway XX” is stated in your instruction, you may call ATC with
“CALLSIGN, ready via ” as you approach this intersection, and it may be approved if traffic permits. Make
sure to double-check if you are able to use the runway length from the intersection before requesting it.

On runway 36R, for airliners, always expect to use full length via F3. From runway 18L, for large airliners,
always expect to use full length via D7.

Runways

Runway 36L/18R is most likely used regardless of aircraft type. Runway 36R/18L is sometimes used if
traffic permits. The western runway (36L/18R) has a runway length of 1077m, the eastern runway
(36R/18L) has a runway length of 914m. Heavy aircraft may request to use the western runway due to its
length, make this request as you request your IFR clearance.

SIDs

All SIDs are individually numbered for each runway. When receiving your clearance, know that the SID
stated is only valid for one runway, in case the controller forgets to state the departure runway.
RNAV SIDs at Rockford has an initial climb altitude of 5000ft. If you are unable to follow the published
SIDs, request an omni-directional departure. Omni-directional departures climbs on runway track to 1500ft
followed by a turn according to ATC clearance. Omni-directional SIDs has an initial climb of 4000ft. It is
important that you NEVER climb above the initial climb without ATC clearance, as STARs and SIDs cross
each other at different altitudes.

MADE BY SANDERLI25
STARs

If you are using a STAR, always be prepared for a direct routing towards the merge point (last fix in the
STAR), in order to ease the workload of approach ATC.
All STARs are valid for both parallel runways, 36L/R or 18L/R. Expect Approach ATC to inform you of
which runway to expect.

The last fix of the STAR is followed by a transition to the ILS approach for each runway. ATC often replace
these with vectoring, but always be prepared to fly the transition, and do NOT fly direct from the last STAR
fix to the Final Approach Fix. If you have no transitions available, inform ATC and request vectoring.

Study the approach charts, and make sure to always follow altitude and speed restriction, unless otherwise
instructed by ATC.

Approach

The default approach to Rockford is ILS for runway 36L and 18R and visual for the others. (ILS is coming to
36R/18L soon)

Direct routings

At Rockford, direct routings are often used. Both arriving and departing traffic should be prepared to fly
direct the end of SIDs, STAR fixes, and airspace border fixes. Make sure to always be able to fly direct.
