Glossary

CONFIDENTIAL: The classification for Deere & Company proprietary information. Unauthorized
disclosure to individuals other than those with a specific "need to know” could have damaging effects on
Deere & Company including the loss of business opportunity, competitive advantage, patent rights or
trade secret assets. A principle use of this classification is to protect matters relating to products and
process technology where new knowledge of great value is often the result of significant expenditures.

BUSINESS ACQUISITION: A business (and its representatives) that Deere & Company is in the process
of acquiring but does not have controlling interest in. Business acquisitions are considered to be External
to Deere & Company for drafting purposes.

DRAWING: A document on an engineering title block format that discloses the form, fit and function of a
part by means of graphical and/or textual representations.

DRAWING VERSION: Designation set forth by JDS-G113.13 by which governance is maintained over
the legal drawing file that Deere & Company maintains.

EXTERNAL TO DEERE & COMPANY: Any party that is not a part of Deere & Company, such as
dealers, suppliers, business acquisitions, joint ventures, subsidiaries and contract service groups.

DEERE & COMPANY: Any party that is fully a part of the company called “Deere & Company” with
Corporate Offices in Moline, IL. This does not include dealers, suppliers, business acquisitions, joint
ventures, subsidiaries, and contract service groups.

DRAWING PUBLICATION: The issuing for legal storage of an engineering drawing and its associated
data that has been adopted or approved via change document guidelines (see UP 7).

FLAT SIZE DRAWING: A drawing, which, due to its size, is filed flat. (ANSI sizes “A”, “B”, “C”, “D” and “E”
and ISO sizes “A4”, “A3”, “A2”, “A1”, and “A0” may be included here.)

FORMAT SIZE: The size designation and dimensions of the drawing area, inside the borderline (or
frame) of the drawing.

John Deere Standards are intended for use by Deere & Company, its divisions and subsidiaries. Suppliers who rely on them in
furnishing products to or for the benefit of the Company must determine that they are in possession of the latest version.
Distribution of the standards to parties other than John Deere Suppliers, whether with or without charge, are for information only and
Deere & Company disclaims all responsibility for results attributable to the application of or compliance with such standards. The
Company makes no representation, express or implied, that conformity ensures compliance with applicable law or other rules or
regulations. Further, those who are in receipt of and elect to use the standards, agree to assume the responsibility for compliance

INTERNAL TO DEERE & COMPANY: SEE “DEERE & COMPANY”

JOHN DEERE: SEE “DEERE & COMPANY”

JOHN DEERE DRAWING: A drawing, the content of which is owned by Deere & Company and has been
drafted on a John Deere title block format.

JOINT VENTURE: Business partnership between Deere & Company and a business not owned by Deere
& Company that allows the restricted sharing of product information. Joint ventures are considered to be
“External to Deere & Company” for drafting purposes.

MAY: Is used when it is necessary to express nonmandatory provisions. (See ASME Y14.100)

MULTIPLE SEGMENT DRAWING: A long drawing, which, due to its length, is microfilmed in segments
on more than one film. (Also called a Roll Drawing.)

MULTIPLE SHEET DRAWING: A drawing consisting of more than one sheet identified by the same part
number and version.

RESTRICTED: Access to this information requires authorization by the originator or current owner and
requires logging (an audit trail of access). Reproduction of RESTRICTED information by recipients is not
authorized. Obtain needed copies from the originator or by their documented permission only.

ROLL SIZE DRAWING: A drawing, which, due to its length, is filed in a roll. (Also called a Multiple
Segment Drawing.)

SHALL: Establishes a mandatory requirement. (See ASME Y14.100)

SHEET SIZE: The size designation and overall dimensions of the drawing sheet.

SHOULD: Is used when it is necessary to express nonmandatory provisions. (See ASME Y14.100)

SUBSIDIARY: An acquired business that is owned by Deere & Company but does not fit traditional
Deere & Company guidelines for business processes. Subsidiaries are considered “External to Deere &
Company” for drafting purposes.

SUPPLIER: Any party that supplies goods or services to “Deere & Company” but is not internal to Deere
& Company.

SUPPLIER DRAWING: A drawing, the content of which is not wholly owned by John Deere. Drawings
published by joint ventures between John Deere and other companies or by subsidiaries of John Deere
are considered Supplier Drawings and should be handled as such. (Supplier Drawings fall under the
guidelines established in JDS-G113.1X1.)

WILL: Establishes a declaration of purpose on the part of the design activity. (See ASME Y14.100)
