Globalization is the process by which our economic situation, cultural values, goods and services,
business and lot more things got spread all over the world. In India, it all started in 1990’s and
changed the views of people and our economic growth.

India opened-up 34 industries/sectors on 24 July 1991, and then announced the New Economic
Policy (NEP).

SOCIO- ECONOMIC SITUATION

Globalized economy, countries who are famous for something they were having lots of advantage
because they can produce goods with least amount of resources and can give in a lower cost than any
other nation who is producing the same. If all countries do the same thing, then it will be easy for us
to produce more systematic globally and with low prices.

As you can see above that FDI (Foreign Direct Investment) inflows are more in 2000’s. India’s
economy reached to the greater heights after having foreign deals. Economic growth was increasing
constantly due to which the poverty rate decreased.

India had a very good impact on agriculture because irrigation, technology and modern equipment’s
gave us development in agriculture.

India is the biggest producer of milk, cashew nuts, coconuts, tea, ginger, turmeric and black pepper. It
has the largest cattle population and second largest producer of wheat, rice sugar and many more
products.

India is consuming a large amount of oil that makes us dependent on imports to complete our needs.

IMPACTS OF SOCIO- ECONOMIC

Even though we are having greater number of exports and imports in industries but we still lack of
employment. Due to this poverty rate increases and rate of children under age 14 doing work
increases called child labour.

As our nation is developing but we are lacking of clean, safe water because most of the industries
throwing waste into rivers and lakes without treatment. Industries are developed and there smoke
coming out of it is affecting our air that making it polluted and causing lots of diseases.

If there are bad effect of globalisation on industry then there are good effects also as in our Indian
economy women’s are not allowed to do work outside the houses but after the industries are
developed women’s employment rate increased.

CULTURAL VALUES AND ATTITUDES

Due to globalisation, our culture is changed. As per previous times people were not used to go out and
work in industries. But not only men, women also works outside in the companies and shops. Instead
of staying at home, they go outside live there life fully.

In 1990’s, women just stay at home with full covered face doing household works. But now women
having full freedom to wear anything and doing jobs.

As per our culture we usually don’t prefer eating non-veg. So according to that when foreign
companies deal with us, they keep our traditions in mind to increase their marketing ability.

 In India we watch all foreign channels like cartoon network, MTV, Star, V channel uses
Hindi language. Foreign movies are more popular in youth like Chinese, Hollywood, Korean.
And these movies are also dubbed in Hindi that makes our language more popular.
 We can see the growth of our songs that is being used in foreign as Indi pop, bhangra pop,
fusion music and lot more which is getting popular.
 In India Mc Donald’s only sell vegetarian and chicken products while in foreign its famous
for its beef products. And it follows our Navratri tradition also by just selling vegetarian
items.
 Globalisation added new festivals in our culture like Valentine’s Day, Friendship Day,
Daughter’s Day and so on. We celebrate our festivals with traditions and happy to celebrate
these new ones also.
 So that means the change happening in society is happening for good. Our tradition is getting
trendier.

Family Dynamics
Globalisation is a drastic change to the families. As in earlier times everyone used to stay in
joint families that means there are around 8- 10 members in a family and even more. People
loved to stay together and have fun, changing thoughts, laughs by sitting under a tree in
villages.
Those times were times that everyone helps each other with no demanding of money all the
time. Ladies do their household works and men go on their works. All family members keep
themselves cheerful all the time without any tensions.
Due to globalisation, now we don’t have joint families more people stay in nuclear families.
Only child and parents, so children don’t know the love of their grandparents. Parents are left
behind by their children because of their jobs. Adults find their jobs mostly far away from
their country because of the good source of income, so they have to left their hometown to
earn better.
Family life has been altered by the globalisation. Now we are interconnected by new
technologies like Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram and many more. We have now extended
family all over the world with new relationships. So technically family is digital now.
Technology connected us in efficient, affordable and rapid manner. We can stay in daily
contact from all over the world even if we are not physically present.
Due to this divorce and single parenting case has increased. If someone doesn’t feel
comfortable with anyone, they just take a divorce they don’t give a second thought to save
their relationship. So, for the name’s sake of “FAMILY” there is nothing left.
