The Earth experiences several processes that bring changes to it.

It can either be an exogenic

process or an endogenic process. EXO means outside or external. Exogenic processes are processes
that take place on Earth’s surface that make the surface wear away. ENDO means inside or
internal. Endogenic processes are processes which are caused by forces within the Earth.

EXOGENIC PROCESSES

1. Weathering – a process that breaks rocks into smaller pieces.

2. Erosion – a process of eroding the Earth’s surface by moving agents such as water, wind and
waves
3. Transport and sedimentation – weathered and corroded materials are moved by agents such as
running water. The materials will be deposited when the velocity of agents decreases.
4. Mass and land depletion – involves soil movement downslope as a result of gravitational force.

ENDOGENIC PROCESSES

1. Mantle convection process – the movement of hot molten magma in the form of convection currents
in the asthenosphere.
2. Magma activity – occurs when hot and molten magma flow out to the Earth’s surface through vents
in the Earth’s crust
3. Plate tectonic – a.k.a Earth’s crust movement which is the slow movement of huge pieces of the
Earth’s crust towards or away from each other.

III. SHORT ANSWER ESSAY (5 points)
Answer the following question in NOT LESS than 3 sentences.

Do people have an impact on or control over both exogenic and endogenic

processes? How, if we do? Why not, if we don't? Add three or more sentences to your
essay to express your ideas. Remember to put what you learnt in this topic to use.
