concepts and unravel the depth of this
lesson by answering these questions.

KEEP THIS IN MIND

Every person needs to convey his emotion

or feelings, so he can be understood. Our feelings
and inner thoughts and even our suggestions,
opinions and reactions must be conveyed. In doing
so, you can use specific words that give a more
convincing meaning to your sentences.

VERB is a word (or group of words) that expresses the action in a sentence. 1
Commonly used verbs that convey emotion are phrasal verbs. A phrasal verb
is a verb that is made up of two or three words. The first word is a verb, and the
second word is a particle (either an adverb or a preposition such as in, up, or on). 2

frustrate interest motivate overwhelm please
puzzle shock surprise

Verbs in Sentences:

Phrasal Verb Examples:

friend.
• Vincent freaked out when he saw a dead spider. He has arachnophobia.
• Dindy cracked up when she saw a very hilarious video in Tiktok.
• The people calmed down after they panicked when a stranger left a black
bag inside the shopping mall.
ADJECTIVE describes a noun’s or pronoun’s number, color, size, type, or other
qualities. 3
Some examples of adjectives are perfect, extravagant, wonderful, unbelievable,
climactic, horrible, deadly and many more.

An adjective also helps in expressing the tone, feelings, and emotions of our
speeches. A simple noun like ‘anger” may be intensified by adding the adjective
extreme making the phrase ‘extreme anger’.
