SIMPLE PRESENT TENSE

We use the simple present tense when:

 the action is general
 the action happens all the time, or habitually, in the past, present and future
 the action is not only happening now
 the action is repetitive action
 the statement is always true

example:

 I drink coffee every morning. I eat chicken once a week.

 He never drinks alcohol. My wife constantly drinks herbal tea.
 Paris is in France. Paris is not in England. It often rains in England.
 The sky is blue. The sky is not blue. The grass isn’t red, it is green.
 My train leaves in five minutes. My train does not leave until Tuesday.

Make simple present tense sentence:

Pattern 1:

+ S Verb 1 (s/es) Object

- S Do/ Does Not Verb 1 Object
? Do/ Does S Verb 1 Object?

Example :
(+) Ana lives in Kudus
They ride motorcycle every morning
(-) Ana does not live in Kudus
They do not ride motorcycle every morning
(?) Does Ana live in Kudus?
Do They ride motorcycle every morning?

Pattern 2:

+ S Tobe (is, am, are) Complement

- S Tobe (is, am, are) Not Complement
? Tobe (is, am, are) S Complement?

Example :
(+) Ana is a hard worker
They are my father’s friends
(-) Ana is not a hard worker
They are not my father’s friends
(?) is Ana a hard worker?
Are They my father’s friends?
Note

We usually use simple present tense with every day, every......., occasionally, sometimes,
usually, seldom, never, hardly ever, etc.

Special case 1
For verbs that end in consonant –y, we remov the –y and add –ies. E.g cry, fly, study, etc.
Example : I study English every weekend
She studies English every weekend

For verbs that end in –o, -ss, -sh, -ch, -x we add –es. E.g go, watch, kiss, fix, wash, etc.
Example : We watch movie every night.
Anita watches movie every night.
