About Prof.

Dalbir Singh

Dalbir Singh currently serving as Professor at G.K.C.I.E.T Malda (A Centrally Funded


Technical Institution under Ministry of Education, Government of India.), received the AMIE
(Mechanical Engineering) from the Institution of Engineers Calcutta (India) in 2001, ME
(CAD) and Ph.D. degrees from Anna University and Hindustan University Chennai in 2008
and 2013 respectively. He has 20 years of Aircraft Maintenance experience in the Indian Air
Force and 15 years of teaching and research experience in the School of Aeronautical
Engineering at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science Chennai where he served as
Head of Department from Sep.2022-Aug.2023. He has bagged several certification and
license such as Basic Aircraft Maintenance Engineer's License issued by DGCA [Director
General of Civil Aviation (Govt. Of India)]; NDT RT and UT level I & II issued by ASNI and
ISNT. His expertise includes fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft maintenance and the
maintenance of a world-class flight simulator from Alsim, France. He also worked on a project
from DST, TIFAC- Core in Aircraft Maintenance worth 13.75 Crores. He was faculty in charge
of SAE International aero design East & West competition held in the USA for Micro class,
Regular class, and Advance class in the year 2013, 14, 15 and 17. He attended the project
competition of SAE Aero Design West in Dec 2013 in Los Angeles, USA. As a Faculty advisor
for MBA Aviation Management students, he attended the International Summer Internship
Program at “South Korea Aerospace University,” and “South Korea Dongguk University”
in June 2011. The team of students under his guidance received the “Most Innovative Design
Award” in August 2014 at the International Aerial Robotics Competition (IARC) held in
China. His Primary research area is advanced composite materials and NDT. He guided 05
Ph.D. scholars and more than 25 M.Tech Dissertation. He has published more than 50 research
articles in different International, National Journals and Conference proceedings.
