A.Read the passage carefully and answer the question that follows.

Text One

The word erosion comes from a Latin word meaning to gradually eat away.Erosion is the
process whereby bits of earth and sand are loosened and moved to another place.Unlike volcanoes
and earthquakes that cause drastic changes to landscapes in very short periods of time,erosion does
it gradually,sometimes even undetected.When a strong gust of wind blows,soil is moved from one
place to another.Water is also a powerful erosive force.It can even cut through rocks,albeit very
slowly.

Text Two

Judith was walking her dog beside a river when she fell.While she was sitting on the wet
grass,she heard her dog barking loudly.She turned around and was horrified to see her dog
attempting to fend off an alligator which had apparently just emerged from the river.Judith had
twisted her ankle in the fall and could not get up to call for help.Fortunately,two passers by heard
her screaming and came to their rescue.The dog was severely wounded but he survived,much to the
relief of his grateful owner.
