 Flight times, taxis and stopovers.
 Weather forecast.
 Type of operation (special pax, floating devices, etc).
6. CKP access.
 Password (normal operation).
 CPT CALL + IMPERATIVE (hijacking).
 Emergency access code.
7. Procedures review.
 Fleet variants differences.
 Positions and responsibilities.
 Emergency & first aid procedures.
 Normal & special procedures.
 Latest communications, operating circulars & info notes, including Cabin Safety Brief.

DE–ICING/ANTI–ICING
1. CPT notifies beginning of process.
2. Minimum CC required on board.
3. Cabin lights ON.
4. Doors closed, slides armed & no obstructions.
5. One CCM gives announcement.
6. Pax seated with SB fastened & NS.
7. Notify CKP about any smoke, smell or danger perceived.
8. CPT notifies end of process.

CABIN SECURE
1. Locked doors & armed slides.
2. Check pax seated on Exits & verify they do not use ear/headphones.
3. ILV & ISB have been distributed, as well as SBE.
4. Briefing performed to:
 PAX next to exits (except 321).
 SCPs.
5. ISPSS OFF & PEDs unplugged.
6. DEMO performed.
7. SB fastened, including INF. CRDs secured according to instructions
8. Seatbacks upright, tray tables folded & armrests down.
9. Window blinds open.
10. Luggage stowed (racks or under seat behind restraint bar, except Exits).
11. Heavy PEDs stowed (racks or under seat behind restraint bar, except Exits).
12. Racks closed.
13. Curtains secured.
14. LAVs unoccupied & locked.
15. Compartments from galleys, ovens, SUs & trolleys closed & secured.
16. CC secured at stations.
17. Cabin lights dimmed (as required).
18. CCM 2 reports OK to SCCM. SCCM reports cabin ready to CPT.
CABIN DUTIES
A320
 SCCM: FWD galley & LAV.
 CCM 2: AFT galley & LAVs.
 CCM 4: rows first–15.
 CCM 3: rows 16–last.
A319: CCM 3 all rows.
A321
 CCM 4A: rows first–10.
 CCM 4B: rows 12–27.
 CCM 3: rows 28–last.

LIGHT TO MODERATE TURBULENCE


1. FC turn ON FSB + contact CC if necessary.
2. CC gives announcement to pax (repeat if required).
3. CC check the cabin (one from the first row and another from the last one):
 SBs fastened.
 Hand baggage stowed & racks closed.
 Non–handheld PEDs OFF & stowed.
 Check LAVs (lock if empty).
 Check & secure galleys.
 Do not leave trolleys unattended.
4. A319: if SSCM is in CKP because of the absence of a pilot, CCM in FWD galley gives announcements
whilst the other CCM does the checks.

SEVERE TURBULENCE
1. CKPT: “ATTENTION CREW TURBULENCE”.
2. Pilots turn ON FSB + NO PEDS.
3. CC:
 Block trolleys between rows.
 Take nearest seat & secure themselves.
 Inform pax to fasten SB & stow PEDs.
4. CAPT calls CC once the situation is stabilized.

LOW VISIBILITY OPERATION


1. CKPT: “ATTENTION CREW SECURE ELECTRONIC DEVICES” + NO PEDs ON.
2. Turn OFF ISPSS.
3. CC secure cabin: all PEDs turned OFF & stowed.

INTERFERENCES CAUSED BY PEDS


1. CPT: “ATTENTION CREW SECURE ELECTRONIC DEVICES” + NO PEDs ON.
2. Turn OFF ISPSS.
3. CC give the announcement + secure cabin: PEDs turned off & stowed.

REFUELING WITH PAX ON BOARD DURING BOARDING OR DISEMBARKING


1. CPT informs SCCM.
2. SCCM informs CCM: “CABIN CREW, PREPARE FOR REFUELLING”.
3. Minimum CC required on board.
4. Cabin lights BRIGHT, FSB OFF, NS ON, NO PEDs ON, ISPSS OFF.
5. Emergency exits & evacuation routes clear, curtains secured & all window blinds open.
6. SCCM orders “CABIN CREW ARM SLIDES LEFT SIDE AND CROSSCHECK”
 Arm slides left side (if no finger/stairs connected).
 Open doors left side (if finger/stairs connected).
7. Each CCM remains at assigned position/area monitoring cabin & pax.
8. CC gives announcement to pax.
9. Pax may use LAVs without forming queues.
10. O2, ovens & PEDs prohibited.
11. Notify CKP immediately about any smoke or smell.
12. CPT notifies the end of the process and SCCM informs “CABIN CREW, REFUELLING FINISHED”
13. SCCM orders “CABIN CREW DISARM SLIDES AND CROSS CHECK”.

OXIGEN SUPPLY TO A PAX


1. Notify CPT.
2. Check if breathing; if not, perform Basic Life Support.
3. Clean face.
4. Single outlet: connect a mask & rotate valve to 4LPM.
5. Twin outlet: connect a mask on HI & open valve.
6. Check O2 flows.
7. When pax recovers:
 Single outlet: switch to 2LPM.
 Double outlet: switch to LO.
8. Do not empty completely (500 psi).
9. Monitor pax.

PILOT INCAPACITATION
1. CPT: “PURSER TO COCKPIT PLEASE” or EMER CALL (all CCMs answer the call).
2. SCCM accesses CKP & CCMs secure galleys.
3. Pull pilot back in the seat and hold him.
4. Shift seat rearwards manually, checking feet do not interfere with pedals.
5. Fasten & lock harness, securing his crossed arms under harness.
6. Recline seat.
7. Check vital functions & ask for medical assistance.
8. Supply O2 if necessary.
9. If incapacitated pilot is not removed from his seat, SCCM remains in CKP.
10. Check if there is a qualified pilot who may substitute the incapacitated pilot; otherwise, SCCM remains
in CKP and reads check–list to the other pilot for landing.
11. If SCCM remains in CKP, CCM4 moves to JS1 (319/321, CCM3 moves to JS1 and CCM2 to JS3).

SCCM INCAPACITATION
1. Closest CCM notifies CKP.
2. Move incapacitated SCCM to the front rows.
3. Ask for medical assistance & supply O2 if necessary.
4. Substitute incapacitated SCCM according to OM.
5. Redistribute tasks.
6. Apply reduced CC procedures (if needed).
7. Monitor incapacitated SCCM & secure him for landing.

CCM INCAPACITATION
1. SCCM notifies CKP.
2. Move incapacitated CCM to the front rows.
3. Ask for medical assistance & supply O2 if necessary.
4. Substitute incapacitated CCM with an additional CCM on board (if available).
5. Redistribute tasks.
6. Apply reduced CC procedures (if needed).
7. Monitor incapacitated CCM & secure him for landing.
CONDITIONS FOR AN EVACUATION
1. Aircraft stopped, engines shut down & CPT commands it.
2. After ditching, always mandatory.
3. Never evacuate after command “CABIN CREW AND PASSENGERS REMAIN SEATED”.
4. Once started, must not be stopped.
5. If obvious catastrophic situation arises & no instructions are received, CC try to communicate with CKP
in every possible way. If no answer received after 30 seconds, CC start the evacuation.

ABNORMAL OPERATION LANDING (PREVIOUSLY PRECAUTIONARY LANDING)


1. CPT “PURSER TO COCKPIT PLEASE” or EMER CALL (all CCMs answer the call).
2. SCCM enters CKP & CCMs secure galleys.
3. CPT briefs SCCM:
 Nature of emergency.
 Intentions.
 Time remaining.
 Special instructions.
4. SCCM gives feedback.
5. All CCMs come to FWD galley with CPL.
6. SCCM briefs CCMs.

UNPLANNED EMERGENCY
1. If possible, CKP “BRACE FOR IMPACT”.
2. SCCM turns ON the emergency lights.
3. CCMs adopt brace position and shout “STAY DOWN AND PROTECT YOUR HEAD / AGÁCHENSE Y
PROTÉJANSE LA CABEZA” until AC is stopped.
4. After AC stopped, apply “Emergency on ground” or “Conditions for an EVAC”.

PLANNED EMERGENCY
1. CPT “PURSER TO COCKPIT PLEASE” or EMER CALL (all CCMs answer the call).
2. SCCM enters CKPT & CCMs secure galleys.
3. CPT briefs SCCM:
 Nature of emergency.
 Intentions.
 Time remaining.
 Special instructions.
4. SCCM gives feedback & synchronizes watch with ECAM.
5. All CCMs come to FWD galley with CPL.
6. SCCM briefs CCMs.
7. CCMs give feedback & synchronize watches with SCCM.
8. Cabin lights set to BRIGHT.
9. SCCM makes emergency announcement & CCMs occupy positions.
10. Relocate ABPs.
11. Perform DEMO.
12. CCMs secure the cabin as usual & additionally:
 Stow all hand baggage & remove sharp objects.
 Use safety card to instruct pax.
 CBs disconnected.
 If ditching, pax wearing LV.
13. Instruct ABPs, SCPs & companions.
14. Final check.
15. CCM2 reports OK to SSCM, who gives cabin ready to CPT.
16. CC secured in their JS, monitor pax & perform silent review.
17. 2 minutes prior to impact, CPT “FINISH PREPARATION”.
18. SCCM switches ON the emergency lights.
19. 1 minute prior to impact, CPT “BRACE FOR IMPACT”.
20. CC remain in brace position and shout “BRACE, BRACE / PROTECCIÓN, PROTECCIÓN” until aircraft is
stopped.
21. After aircraft is stopped, CPT “ATTENTION CREW AT STATIONS”.
22. CC apply “Emergency on ground” procedure or “Conditions for an evacuation”.

EMERGENCY ON GROUND
1. CKP “ATTENTION CREW AT STATIONS”.
2. CCMs go to assigned exit:
 Evaluate outside conditions.
 Monitor the cabin.
 Perform silent review.
3. If no further instructions received after 1 minute, SCCM contacts CKP.
4. Evacuation required, CKP “EVACUATE, EVACUATE” + EVAC ON.
5. Evacuation not required, CKP “CABIN CREW AND PASSENGERS REMAIN SEATED”.
6. If obvious catastrophic situation arises & no instructions are received, CC apply “Conditions for an
evacuation”.

ON GROUND EVACUATION
1. CPT “EVACUATE, EVACUATE” + EVAC ON.
2. CCMs reset evacuation alarm.
3. CCMs go to assigned exit:
 Evaluate outside conditions.
 Check slide armed.
4. Open door and shout “STAY BACK / ESPEREN”.
5. Check slide is correctly inflated.
6. Shout “UNFASTEN SEATBELTS, LEAVE EVERYTHING, COME THIS WAY, JUMP, RUN AWAY /
DESABRÓCHENSE LOS CINTURONES, DEJEN TODO, POR AQUÍ, SALTEN, ALÉJENSE”.
7. Evacuate 2 ABPs first and shout “YOU AND YOU JUMP FIRST, HELP AT THE BOTTOM AND SEND
PEOPLE AWAY / USTED Y USTED SALTEN PRIMERO, AYUDEN DESDE ABAJO Y ALEJEN A LA
GENTE” (minimum 100 meters).
8. Once pax have been evacuated, CCMs:
 Check assigned area.
 Assist in other areas if needed.
 Take assigned equipment & leave the aircraft.
9. Move pax away while shouting “STAY AWAY FROM THE AIRCRAFT / ALÉJENSE DEL AVIÓN”.
10. Regroup, count and assist pax. Prevent them from returning to the aircraft.

Possible contingencies when opening a door:

 Pneumatic opening system fails:


 Push manually and open completely the door.
 Before evacuating, verify correct deployment of slide.
 Automatic slide deployment fails:
 Shout: “STAY BACK / ESPEREN”.
 Operate “pull to inflate”.
 Before evacuating, verify correct deployment of slide.
 Shout: “JUMP, RUN AWAY / SALTEN, ALÉJENSE”.
 Exterior conditions are not safe or the slide does not deploy.
 Physically block door and redirect to other operative exits.
 Shout: “STOP, THAT WAY / STOP, POR ALLÍ”.

One CC managing two doors

1. Every CCM in charge of 2 FLE initiates evacuation enabling first their closest exit.
2. Once the flow of pax is established, head to the opposite exit, enabling this one and remaining next to it
until the end of evacuation.
EVACUATION ON WATER (DITCHING)
1. CPT “EVACUATE, EVACUATE” + EVAC ON.
2. CCMs reset evacuation alarm.
3. CCMs go to assigned exit and evaluate outside conditions:
 NOT SAFE: block door & redirect pax shouting “STOP, THAT WAY / STOP, POR ALLÍ”.
 SAFE: check slide armed (disarmed in A321, doors 2 and 3).
4. Open door firmly (and push manually in A321, doors 2 and 3).
5. Pull on the “pull to inflate” and the “pull to detach” (not in A321, doors 2 and 3).
6. Shout “UNFASTEN SEATBELTS, LEAVE EVERYTHING, GET YOUR LIFEVEST (unplanned), COME THIS
WAY / DESABRÓCHENSE LOS CINTURONES, DEJEN TODO, COJAN EL CHALECO (unplanned), POR
AQUÍ”.
7. Evacuate 2 ABPs first.
8. Shout:
 Slide: “GET OUT, INFLATE YOUR LIFEVEST OUTSIDE, JUMP INTO THE WATER AND HOLD
TO THE SLIDE / SALGAN, INFLEN EL CHALECO FUERA DEL AVIÓN, SALTEN AL AGUA Y
AGÁRRENSE A LA RAMPA”.
 Raft: “INFLATE YOUR LIFEVEST OUTSIDE, GET ON THE RAFT AND SIT DOWN ON THE
BACK / INFLEN EL CHALECO FUERA DEL AVIÓN, SUBAN A LA BALSA Y SIÉNTENSE EN EL
FONDO”.
9. Once pax have been evacuated, CCMs:
 Check assigned area.
 Assist in other areas if required.
 Take assigned equipment and leave the aircraft.
10. Get on the slide & cut the “mooring line”.
 Slide: hold to the slide.
 Raft: stay on the raft, throw the anchor, try to stay close to the other rafts and establish
leadership.

FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURE


1. FIRE FIGHTER.
 Identify source and type.
 Disconnect switches and pull out CBs.
 Equip with PBE, FG & FE.
 Fight fire.
 Attract the attention of another CCM (communicator).
2. COMMUNICATOR. Notify CKP via EMER CALL about:
 Who is calling and from where.
 Fire source and type.
 CC actions & time of initiation of those actions.
 Emergency equipment used.
 Fire and smoke evolution.
 Pax reaction.
3. BACK–UP.
 Supply PBE, FG & FE to FF (also consider FL & AXE).
 Close air outlets.
 Move pax away and remove O2 and luggage.
 Teamwork management.
 Keep communicator informed.

Once extinguished, SCCM must:

1. Verify personally no re–ignition.


2. Notify CPT about cabin status.
LAVATORY FIRE: COLD DOOR
1. Prepare PBE, FG & FE.
2. Enter LAV and locate fire source and type.
3. Equip with PBE, FG & FE if required.
4. Fight fire properly according to the source and type.
5. Repeat as necessary.
6. Monitor affected area.

LAVATORY FIRE: HOT DOOR


1. Equip yourself with PBE, FG & FE.
2. Open door slightly using it as a shield.
3. Insert the nozzle and discharge FE.
4. Close door.
5. Repeat as necessary.
6. Put wet clothes or a wet curtain at the bottom of the door to prevent spread of smoke.
7. Lock LAV and monitor.

OVEN FIRE
1. Close over door.
2. Switch it off and pull out the CBs.
3. Equip with PBE, FG & FE.
4. Open door slightly using it as a shield.
5. Insert the nozzle and discharge FE inside.
6. Close door.
7. Repeat as necessary.
8. Monitor.

LITHIUM BATTERY OR PED FIRE


1. Identify the device.
2. Move pax away.
3. Unplug the device.
4. Equip with PBE, FG & FE.
5. Discharge FE.
6. Do not move device.
7. Cool it with water or non–flammable liquid.
8. Repeat steps if necessary.
9. When cooled (10–15 minutes), fill nearest trolley with water or non – flammable liquid and immerse
device using FG.
10. Stow trolley in AFT galley & monitor.

OVERHEAD RACK FIRE


1. Move pax away.
2. Feel the rack to locate the fire.
3. Equip with PBE, FG & FE.
4. Open rack.
5. Discharge FE inside.
6. Close.
7. Repeat as necessary.
8. Identify item: if a PED, apply procedure “PED fire”.

GALLEY FIRE
1. Pull out CBs.
2. Equip with PBE, FG & FE.
3. Discharge FE.
4. Remove O2 cylinders & PBEs L’Air Liquide.
SEAT FIRE
1. Move pax away.
2. Equip with PBE, FG & FE.
3. Discharge FE.
4. Remove O2 cylinders & PBEs L’Air Liquide.
5. Switch off ISPSS.

HIDDEN FIRES
1. Locate fire using the back of the hand.
2. Identify source and type.
3. Equip with PBE, FG & FE.
4. Remove panels using AXE.
5. Discharge FE.
6. Repeat as necessary.
7. Monitor affected area.

BLACK CABIN SMOKE


1. Notify CPT: source, colour, density, pax reaction.
2. Equip with PBE.
3. Close air outlets.
4. Shout “GET DOWN ON THE FLOOR AND COVER YOUR NOSE AND MOUTH / AGÁCHENSE Y
TÁPENSE NARIZ Y BOCA”.
5. Coordinate actions with CKP.

SLOW DEPRESSURIZATION
 11300 ft (cabin altitude):
 FSB ON.
 NS ON.
 Cabin lights BRIGHT.
 EXIT signs ON.
 14000 ft (cabin altitude):
 O2 masks drop down.
1. Coordinate actions with CKP.
2. Use O2.
3. Brief pax about the use of emergency O2.
4. Check cabin helped by portable O2 cylinders (if possible).

RAPID DEPRESSURIZATION
1. Use nearest O2 mask.
2. Block trolleys between rows.
3. Sit down and fasten seat belts.
4. Shout commands to pax “PULL A MASK DOWN, FIT IT OVER YOUR NOSE AND MOUTH AND BREATH
NORMALLY / TIREN DE UNA MASCARILLA, PÓNGANSELA SOBRE NARIZ Y BOCA Y RESPIREN”.
5. When the situation allows it, CPT “ATTENTION CREW RAPID DESCENT”.
6. If SCCM is required in the CKP, FC must specify if O2 is needed or not.
7. Remain seated using O2 until “ATTENTION CREW RAPID DESCENT COMPLETED”.
8. Check and assist FC, CC, pax and LAVs.
9. SCCM reports crew, pax and cabin status to CPT.
