What is Sand Buggy Chassis?
• A sand buggy chassis is a type of off-road vehicle frame that is specifically
designed for use in dune buggies or sand rails.
• The chassis is typically built with heavy-duty materials, such as steel or
aluminum, to withstand the rigors of off-road driving in sandy environments.
• It is typically equipped with a powerful engine, durable suspension system,
and heavy-duty wheels and tires that are designed to handle the unique
challenges of driving in sand.
• Sand buggy chassis can be purchased pre-built or custom-designed to suit
the specific needs and preferences of the driver.
Components were used in Sand Buggy Chassis :-
1. PVC Pipe
2. T-joint
3. Elbow -joint
4. 3- way elbow joint

Design of Sand Buggy Chassis :-
Working of Sand Buggy Chassis
• Sand buggy chassis is a type of off-road vehicle chassis used in desert racing and dune buggy
driving.
• The sand buggy chassis is typically made of tubular steel, which offers high strength, durability, and
rigidity. It is designed in a way that maximizes the vehicle's stability, maneuverability, and speed.
• The suspension system of the sand buggy chassis is typically made up of a combination of
independent suspension and shock absorbers. This provides the vehicle with the ability to absorb
shocks and bumps, maintain contact with uneven terrain, and improve overall ride quality.
• The steering system of the sand buggy chassis is usually hydraulic, which allows for precise and
responsive steering. The wheels are installed with a heavy-duty off-road tire which offers excellent
traction on sand and rocky surfaces.
• The engine of the sand buggy chassis is typically a high-performance gasoline engine. It provides
the vehicle with power and speed necessary for off-road driving. The engine is usually mounted at
the rear of the buggy chassis to provide better weight distribution.
• In summary, the sand buggy chassis is a robust, high-performance off-road vehicle designed for
sand and rocky terrain. Its strength, durability, and suspension system allow it to handle the tough
demands of off-road driving. Its engine provides power and speed while its steering system and
tires offer high maneuverability and traction respectively.
Methodology :-
1. First step to determine the requirement and the design of the sand buggy chassis.
2. Next step we have to create the concept of the sand buggy chassis which include the
position of engine, , wheels, suspension, and other components.
3. Select material :- The materials used by us is PVC pipe, T-joint, Elbow- joint, 3-way
elbow joint. Because it’s a prototype chassis.
4. Creating a 3d model:- Using CAD model for 3d modelling precise measurements
and ensures that all components fit together correctly.
5. Fabricate the chassis :- Using 3D model as a refrence for fabricate the sand buggy
chassis from the selected materials. This involves cutting, welding, and assembling the
various components.
6. Finishing :- Once the model complete we use a paint for protecting from another
element.

Benefits:-
1. Durability: Sand buggy chassis are designed to withstand the stresses and strains of off-
road driving, making them more durable and long-lasting than standard vehicle chassis.
2. Customization: Sand buggy chassis can be customized to meet the specific needs and
preferences of individual drivers.
3. Safety features: Many sand buggy chassis are designed with safety features such as roll
cages, seat belts, and reinforced frames to help protect drivers in the event of an accident.
4. Lower maintenance costs: Sand buggy chassis are generally easier to maintain than
standard vehicles, as they have fewer moving parts and are designed for off-road use. This
can result in lower maintenance costs over time.
5. Versatility: Sand buggy chassis can be used for a variety of off-road activities, including sand
dune racing, rock crawling, and desert exploration. This makes them a versatile option for
those who enjoy off-road driving.
