INTRODUCTION:
The way we organize ourselves and our living spaces in a place is called a settlement.
In this lesson we have read how these settlements have been developed. For some
villages, there are some physical factors which help them to turn from village to
mega cities. With this project, we are going to know the conditions of the important
cities in India.
AIM:
This project has been selected to know how the famous cities have been developed,
what are the conditions led to this and where they are.
COLLECTION OF INFORMATION:
We collected information from our village elders about the development of our
village from a settlement. For this, we formulated some questions. And also we
collected information from Internet about the important settlements and
aerotropolis in India and tabulated the collected information.

ANALYSIS OF INFORMATION:
1. The conditions which led to turn our locality into a settlement are cultivable land,
irrigation water, near to towns etc.
2. From the above information, we came to know that the cities which have more
than 1 crore of population are called Mega cities, population between 10,00,000 and
1 crore are called Metro cities, population between 1,00,000-10,00,000 are called
Class-l cities. The remaining are called towns, revenue villages and habitations.
3. Recently, settlements have been developing surrounding the airports. These are
called Aerotropolis and these are developing very fast now.
WORLD FAMOUS AIRPORTS:

RESULTS:
Settlements, Mega cities, Metropolitan cities, Class-I cities, towns, revenue villages,
Aerotropolis etc., are defined based on population. And also we know where the
famous aerotropolis are located in the world.
CONCLUSION:
It is very important to know the history of our settlement and also the important
settlements.
