“Tampisaw” by Malyn I. Pogosa

In our dearest Ormoc City, the City of Beautiful People, there are many talented
artists. One of the local artists in Ormoc is Malyn Igot Pogosa. She is a graduate of
Bachelor of Secondary Education major in English at the Visayas State University. She
is currently a secondary teacher at Dolores National High School. She also participates
in various art exhibitions, including interactivity, Kadasig 2 (Teacher-Artist) Group Arts
and Crafts Exhibit, Kadasig 3 (Paso sa Ormoc), and Kalig-on Arts and Crafts Exhibits,
among others. She is well-known for her painting skills, which include layering and
textured artworks created using a variety of mediums such as watercolor, color pencil,
and acrylics.
Considering she enjoys realism and impressionism, some of her works, such as
"Tampisaw," are based on real-life events and scenes. Tampisaw is a painting based on
a real-life situation of two youngsters plunging from a floating cottage into the cold water
of Lake Danao. They are pleased to swim when they have completed their
housekeeping, work, or other tasks. The artist depicts the ordinary lives of people in a
province.
The variety of colors and their contrast is from up to down or from light to dark
colors. The artist's work represents the idea of bringing nature into people's lives and
how scenery brings joy to youngsters and everyone who visit the spot. Even in the face
of adversity, the Filipino never fails to smile. I thought this artwork was beautiful
because it depicted the humble existence of people in the province. As artists, it is
critical to integrate our talents and skills so that, with commitment and passion, we can
create something significant that meets our primary goals.
