SCOPE OF WORKS
The project comprises demolition of obstructions in some proposed sites, the formation of a temporary
contractor’s field office/visitor’s car park, living quarters and the construction work of proposed sites.
PREPARATORY WORKS
Works will commence on site upon receipt of the Notice to Proceed instruction. Initially while setting up
compound safety fences, we will be setting up temporary facilities and demolition of obstructions.
Necessary equipment’s will be moved on site according to schedule.
Materials will be stored on site as close to their place of use as possible an in an orderable fashion. Lay
down areas will be set out for trades such as steel work and cladding and suitably fenced off. No
flammable materials will be stored near boundary fencing or existing buildings. Storage of flammable
materials in and around new buildings under construction will be strictly monitored and controlled.
Dust arising from the ground prevalent in dry spells and generated by wind and plant traversing the site
will be controlled by spraying water over the ground from a water bowser towed behind a dumper. Dust
generated by site works will be controlled by suitable water suppressant attached to the appropriate
equipment.
The general operating hours of the site will be between 7:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
Overtime works will be determined if deemed necessary.
Deliveries to site of materials and equipment will be during nighttime or mid-morning to avoid traffic
jams and or any time when traffic is quite low.
METHOD STATEMENT
Prior to starting on site, we will seek to meet the Client and his professional team in order to confirm
our full understanding of the project constraints and the objectives of all stakeholders. Through this
consultative process, we will respond through the further development of a robust, comprehensive and
purposeful Construction Method Statement and Construction Health and Safety Plan which will be the
roadmap for the project going forward. The Method Statement will be an important management tool
and will set out certain key actions, milestones.
SITE ESTABLISHMENT
Our sites set- up will include canteen, drying and messing facilities along with our own site office a
storage area for materials on site. Safety fences will be erected around the work areas to prevent
unauthorized access to the site. Traffic movements to and from the site will be in strict accordance with
the Site Traffic Management Plan which will reflect the need to maintain clear vehicular routes. In
addition, a temporary gate will be installed to the site compound to give access to the site compound
area.
All visitors and construction personnel will report to the site office where they will be required to attend
a safety briefing undertaken by a safety practitioner assigned on site, whereupon they will be provided
with detail rules and restrictions, such as Health and Safety arragements,First Aid provision, Fire
Procedures, etc.
A visitor’s book as well as daily signing in book will be maintained throughout the project.
A Site Waste Management Plan will be developed before any work on site commences.
QUALITY ASSURANCE
We operate a Business Management System which has been accredited with certification to ISO
9001:2015.
In order to achieve the exacting standards required for this project, we will develop a detailed and
specific inspection and test plan. This document will identify items or elements within the specification
which need to be inspected, confirmed and/or verified before the subsequent work activity can
commence. We refer to these inspections as hold points, in order to confirm that element of the works
about to be covered or completed is compliant with the specifications.
Similarly, materials which require testing, certification or inspection are also highlighted in the
inspection and test plan and too are checked for correctness and results recorded before the materials
are released for incorporation into the works.
Any non-compliant materials are “quarantined” in a specially designated area to prevent incorporation
into the works pending their removal from site.
SITE MANAGEMENT AND HOUSE KEEPING
Our site management teams actively promote clean and tidy sites as in our experience it enhances
safety and productivity, and at the same time reduces waste. This philosophy is applied equally to the
work areas as it is the site compound.
CONSTRUCTION STAGE
During the Construction Phase of the project our duties will include but may not be limited to:
® Co-ordination of the works including design and production information, including that produced by
specialist subcontractors;
®Attend meetings with the Client, Design Team and Specialists if necessary;
