1. Exporting Records from GoldMine

GoldMine has the ability to export only contact1 and contact2 data to dBase, ASCII, and
SDF file types. It is possible to export from filtered records if you only require a subset of
the data. This example exports to a Dbase file that can be loaded into Microsoft Excel for
further manipulation.

Exporting of GoldMine data uses the Export Wizard. The wizard will export data from
the currently open database; therefore ensure you have opened the correct database
before beginning the export. If you want to export filtered records ensure you have set up
the filter before proceeding.

1. Select the Export Contact Records

from the Tools menu in GoldMine,
ensure that you have open the correct
database that you want to export from!
Click on Next.

2. Select ‘Export a new file’ and select the
file format as required. This example
exports to a dBASE file. When you have
chosen the export file format click on
Next to continue.

3. Specify the filter for the export if you

want to export the entire database select
‘All Contact Records’ from the drop down
menu. Click on Next to continue. The
creation of filters is not covered in this
worksheet.

4. You now have to choose fields

GoldMine that you wish to export forms.
Only Contact1 and Contact2 data can be
exported. The GoldMine fields are
displayed on the left hand-side, under
‘GoldMine Fields’. The fields on the
right are the fields to be exported. The
field will appear under the ‘expression’
column on the right-hand side as seen in
the example with the address1 field. Be
aware that GoldMine displays the
underlying field names not the field
labels, therefore contact2 fields will
begin with a U.

5. Selecting an exported field such as

address1 and clicking on Properties
allows further options to format the data,
for example the Dbase Field Name can
be changed. It is also possible to apply
Dbase expressions to further manipulate
the data.

6. You need to specify a destination for
the export file, enter a path or click on
‘…’ to browse for a suitable directory and
add a filename.

7. If you wish to use the settings

configured for the export you may save
them as a profile. Enter a profile name
and click Next to continue.

8. Once you are happy with everything

click on Finish to begin the export. The
records will then be exported to the file
specified in stage 6.
