GREETING

Presider: Praised be God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

the Father of mercies, and the God of all consolation! He
comforts us in all our afflictions and thus enables us to
comfort those who are in trouble,
with the same consolation we have received from him

OPENING PRAYER

Presider: Let us pray…

Father,
God of all consolation,
in your unending love and mercy for us
you turn the darkness of death

1
into the dawn of new life.

Show compassion to your people in their sorrow.

Be our refuge and our strength
to lift us from the darkness of this grief
to the peace and light of your presence.

Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, by dying for us,

conquered death and by rising again, restored life.
May we then go forward eagerly to meet him, and after
our life on earth be reunited with our brothers and
sisters where every tear will be wiped away.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.

All: Amen.

LITURGY OF THE WORD

GOSPEL Jn 6: 37-40
A Reading from the Holy Gospel according to John

Jesus said to the crowd: “All that the Father gives me shall come to
me; no one who comes will I ever reject, because it is not to do my own
will that I have come down from heaven, but to do the will of him who
sent me. It is the will of him who sent me that I should lose nothing of
what he has given me; rather, that I should raise it up on the last day.
Indeed, this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks upon the
Son and believes in him shall have eternal life. Him I will raise up on the
last day.”
The Gospel of the Lord.
