Future of Victimology

How characteristics of people can make them liable to become victims of crime.

Low grit is a character that exposes one to perpetual psychological struggle as a result of the

victimization that tends to affect one's life immensely. Characteristics of people exposed to

various victimization are based on the vulnerability of individuals (May-Chahal Et al., 2020).

First, physical weakness is one of the main traits that determines the state of various victims

(Turvey Et al., 2023). This brings about psychological disorders that torment the affected. Target

gratifiability is another trait that exposes them to victimization based on the gender configuration

of an individual. Many females are more prone to sexual abuse, which brings about victimization

(Turvey Et al., 2023). Target antagonism is another character that hugely leads to victimization.

The moral decadence in many makes them crime victims (May-Chahal Et al., 2020). Many

people expose themselves to ill-mannered actions that finally lead them to be subjects of this

vice.

Three changes are expected in Victimology over the next 50 years.

There is a continuous change in the field of victimization that has seen its effect on the

current standing. First, there is expected to be a law enactment in favor of the victim to ensure

that their rights are preserved and protected (May-Chahal Et al., 2020). Due to the nature in

which the victim is left, many tend to develop phobia due to seeing the offenders continuing with

life as usual (May-Chahal Et al., 2020). Another probable change is an increased rate of crime as

many victims rise to defend their rights. Many of the victims who don't get their rights tend to

retaliate. This, in turn, will cause an increased crime as each party pursues their revenge. Thirdly,

it is expected to have a more complex case, as indicated in Victimology (May-Chahal Et al.,

2020). The three change levels suggest a more complex state of Victimology as possibilities

become more viral and tragic. The laws set will have to be extrapolated to absorb some cases that

are not captured.

The current state of Victimology on Sexual Abuse and its expected changes.

Date rape, majorly termed as sexual abuse, has left many victimized despite the possible

effort to curb its spread (Turvey Et al., 2023). Due to the increased cases of blind dates that the

growth of social media has facilitated, there is an exponential increase in rape cases where many

ladies end up being victims of such occurrences (Turvey Et al., 2023). Due to the increased rate

of moral degradation, incidents related to rape cases are expected to hike. This exponential

increase will cause and lure many to become victims of this vice, as captured in Victimology.

However, proper measures should be in place to control and mitigate its effect.
