Sutsection 4.5.1 Cabling and Systems
The total voltage drop in feeder and branch circuit shall not exceed 4%

The voltage drop calculation for equipment shall be based on the rated
nominal voltage of the distribution bus feeding the equipment, full load
current of the equipment being fed at rated voltage and maximum
feeder cable impedance.
The voltage drop in control circuit wiring shall not exceed a value that
may cause contactor to drop-out, or cause auxiliary relays or contactors
to fail to pick-up or the control syslem to malfunction in other way under
any auxiliary system voltage condition.
All cables have adequate conductor sizes to carry the full starting
current of the motors, during the period of motor acceleration without
0C.
exceeding the specified short duration conductor temperature of 130
The cable short circuit rating shall be based on the available fault
currents at the Medium or Low Voltage Switchgears for a duration time
of 1 (one) second.
Under worst conditions, the conductor temperature shall not exceed its
maximum short circuit temperature of 250 oC.
The Biddefs calculations for cable sizing and the design values being
used for standard current ratings, maximum conductor/armour
temperatures, ambient and ground temperatures, soil thermal resistivity,
depth of burial, cable spacing and groupings etc., shall be submitted to
the Owner for approval.

b) lnsulation
e) Armor
f) Outer Jacket
All cables shall be provided with a fire retardant and low acid gas
evolution outer jacket over the inner sheath, screen or the armor.
This jacket may be polyvinyl chloride (PVC) provided it is certified
by recognized independent international authority.
The distance between the end of one (1) complete set of marks
and the beginning of the next shall not exceed 500 mm.

a) Power Cables
b) Control Cables
Segregated cable tray runs shall be provided for each of the redundant
power distribution systems and associated control and instrumentation.
Tray fill shall have allowance for future installation of 15% more cables.
Cable tray supports shall be designed with a safety facior not less than
two (2).
All cable trays for power and control cables shall be ladder bottom type
with standardized width of 300 or 450 or 600-mm. Perforated cable
trays 150 mm wide may be used for a maximum of three (3) low voltage
power cables or control cables. The width of the cable trays shall not
exceed 600 mm. The tray depth shall not exceed 100 mm. All cable
trays for instrumentation cables shall be ladder bottom tray or
solid-bottom or perforated type, 100 o150 mm wide, with tight, fitting
covers in accordance with the instrument systems requirement.
Vertical clearances between the cable trays shall not be less than
350 mm, lower edge to lower edge. The access way between the cable
trays or between a wall and the cable trays shall not be less than
600 mm.
The top of the highest cable tray shall have at least 350 mm clearance
from the ceiling, beams, or overhead structures.
4.5.1.3.2 ConduitSlzing
The following data shall be used for determining the sizes of the
conduits for the various conditions:
(1) The cross-sectional area of a single-cable in a conduit shall not
occupy more than 53% of the cross-sectional area of the conduit.

The area of ground cables inside the conduit shall be included in the
cable area.
Short straight runs of conduit and short conduit terminations may have a
greater percentage of the total cross section area occupied than that
indicated above, up to a maximum of 60 %.
Conduit size and dimension shall conform to the minimum radius shown
in the tabulation below, and any deviations from the values shall be
subject to review and approval by the Owner.
Bends for conduits containing two or more cables may be bent to the
radius of the conduit size that would be used to carry the largest of the
cables if that cable were in a conduit by it.
The Bidder shall furnish all conduits, conduit bends, and fittings, pull
box devices, cabinets, junclion boxes, supports, clamps, and all other
conduit appurtenances. All such materials shall comply with these
Specifications
(1) The most efficient and economical routing of the conduit runs from
the cable trays to their terminations at equipment and the routing
of the conduits between pieces of equipment where no cable trays
are available. Each routing of the conduit runs' shall be provided
with spare conduit tube. This work includes determining the
location of bends, pull joints, fittings, supports, junction boxes,
cabinets, etc.
(2) The size of conduits shall be in accordance with lhe sizing criteria
specified in Detailed Requirements below.
Unless otheMise indicated, all conduits and fittings for indoor or outdoor
use shall be rigid galvanized steel, PVC Conduit can be use inside
cable duct, conosive area and outdoor lighting. Conduits for indoor
lighting in non-hazardous areas shall be electrical metallic tubing (EMT).
All steel EMT fittings, or the steel portions of such fittings, shall be
electrogalvanized, cadmium plated, or otherwise protected with an
approved rust preventative; and shall comply with the latest ANSI
Standard or equivalent.
c. Flexible Conduit
All conduit supports and fasteners, such as, pipe straps, U-Bolts, J-
Bolts, etc., shall be hot dipped galvanized, elec{ro-galvanized or
cadmium plated.
4.5.1.3.4 ConduitTerminations
Conduits or
connectors terminating at indoor sheet enclosures or
equipment (expect as specified herein otheMise), shall be provided with
locknuts both inside and outside the enclosure, with insulating bushings
on the ends of the conduits or conneclors. Thread less, concrete tight,
connectors and couplings may be used if made up tight, for elec{rical
continuity.
The Bidder shall avoid all interferences with buried pipes, culverts,
drains, foundations and other struc{ures in his routing and shall provide
adequate design clearances. The Bidder shall have his detailed cable
duct design and installation drawings approved by the owner before the
construction is started.
Cable duct shall continue inside buildings and the tray system
interconnected to the building tray system as necessary for continued
routing of the cables. Suitable access ladders or stairways shall be
provided at both ends of the ducl and at intermediate points as
necessary for access.
