Background
Failures of NOX sensor related fault codes are observed in field in few B7RLE Euro4 buses due to
cable rubbing with chassis bolts, which is not routed in proper way.
Details of Observation
Fault codes observed:-
MID 128 PPID 270 FMI 5,MID 128 PSID 46 FMI 14, MID 128 PSID 229 FMI 9, MID 128 PPID 270 FMI 9

NOX Sensor cable found rubbing

with screw on frame & insulation is
damaged

Due to damage of insulation, wire is

getting in contact with frame metal
portion and non erasable fault
codes are set in BIC

Suggestions / Corrective action to avoid failures in field

NOX sensor wiring to be re-routing by providing corrugated hose and proper clamping as illustrated
below.
Procedures
¾ Switch of the battery main switch
¾ Empty the air from system – for releasing AC belt tensioner
¾ Remove the AC belt
¾ Remove the sensor from exhaust tail pipe

Insert corrugated hose approx 900mm

over whole length of sensor cable.

Fix the clamp (PN 952628) by self

threading screw(PN HWS 019080A)
200mm approx 200mm from NOX sensor ECU

Note:-
Use a hand drilling machine & 8 mm
socket for fixing the screw

pipe by putting Teflon tape on sensor
threads and ensure that curvature of
sensor cable is maintained of radius
minimum 20mm.

¾ Refit AC belt
¾ Check & ensure that wiring is not loose or not rubbing to frame
¾ Switch on battery main switch
¾ Start the engine & ensure no leakage of gas from sensor mounting
