Midterm internship is a compulsory module of some training program .

This is also a very meaningful

period that consolidates the information and abilities required for occupations relevant to the training
majors; provides students with the conditions essential for them to be aware of careers and sectors of
work after graduation . Besides , it also helps students recognize and detect their own shortcomings in
knowledge and skills to continue to accumulate, improve and promote in the next semesters at the
school . This essay includes the summary of two workshops and field trip two months ago .

The first workshop was held online on the Microsoft Teams platform . Its concept focuses on five main
things : Ikigai , skills , attitude , values and habits . To begin with , Ikigai (ee-key-guy) is a Japanese
concept that combines the terms iki, meaning “alive” or “life,” and gai, meaning “benefit” or “worth.”
Ikigai is similar to the French term “raison d’etre” or “reason for being.” Your ikigai is your life purpose
or your bliss. It’s what brings you joy and inspires you to get out of bed every day. It’s important to
mention that while traditional Japanese philosophy focuses on finding your bliss, western interpretation
has used ikigai as a method of finding your dream career. Secondly , Skills are the abilities to perform an
action with a normally defined result in a period of time with the same rated energy or both . Common
skills can be divided into general and domain-specific skills such as : life skills , hard skills , social skills
and soft skills . In addition , The term “ attitude” refers to how you see and approach issues in your life .
It involves both your inner feelings and your external behaviors . A person's attitude can be viewed as
their approach to something or as their personal thoughts on it. In psychology, attitude is a
psychological construct, a mental and emotional entity that is inherent in or characteristics of a person.
Their attitudes are connected to their ideas, opinions, and emotions. Furthermore , Values are basic and
fundamental beliefs that guide or motivate attitudes or actions. They help us to determine what is
important to us. Values describe the personal qualities we choose to embody to guide our actions; the
sort of person we want to be; the manner in which we treat ourselves and others, and our interaction
with the world around us. Last but not least , Habits are rituals and behaviors that we perform
automatically, allowing us to carry out essential activities such as brushing our teeth, taking a shower,
getting dressed for work, and following the same routes every day without thinking about them. Our
unconscious habits free up resources for our brains to carry out other more complex tasks like solving
problems or deciding what to make for dinner.

position for themselves .

The second workshop was a meeting with fellow alumni . They all have different jobs and professions,
ranging from interpreter to secretary to Ames English center director. They shared us about their job or
what is required to find a good job and advance in your career . The sentences that impressed me most
were : “The most beautiful thing about learning is that no one take that away from you” , “Study not
what the world is doing, but what you can do for it” , “Adventure is the best way to learn” . They always
emphasized the importance of learning . In addition , They also pointed out common mistakes when
writing Curriculum vitae which I always have .

Reflecting on my practice , I recognize that sometimes I deal with difficulties related to the big amount
of visual information in which I am exposed with the risk of low quality of decision , confusion , and lack
of responsiveness and of concentration . After the first workshop , I understand more about a new
concept “Ikigai” . Contrary to popular belief in Western culture , Ikigai isn’t simply related to one’s
profession ; it pours into one’s well-being and contributes to living a meaningful life . It also
encompasses something that benefits others or society to accumulates as a life purpose . Many studies
have tried to understand further the role of Ikigai in people’s life satisfaction . In addition , I identify
some common mistakes when I wrote a CV such as : focusing on duties rather than achievements ,
incorrect information , poor format ,….
