Topic: Airport

Level: Beginner
Age Group: Adults
Duration: 30 minutes

Objective:
By the end of this lesson, the student will be able to confidently communicate in
Chinese about various aspects of traveling through an airport.

Materials:
1. Whiteboard and markers or a digital writing tool
2. A laptop or tablet with internet access for multimedia resources
3. Visual aids (pictures of airport signs, passport, boarding pass, etc.)
4. A set of flashcards with relevant vocabulary

Lesson Plan:

**Introduction (5 minutes)**

1. Greet the student and establish a positive learning atmosphere.

2. Discuss the importance of the topic: "Today, we will learn how to navigate
through an airport in Chinese, which will be helpful for your future travels."

**Warm-up (5 minutes)**

3. Start with a simple icebreaker: Ask the student if they have ever traveled by plane
before. Share your own experiences if applicable.

**Vocabulary Building (5 minutes)**

4. Present essential airport-related vocabulary using flashcards or visual aids. Include

words like "机场" (airport), "登机牌" (boarding pass), "护照" (passport), "安检"
(security check), "登机口" (gate), "行李" (luggage), "行李托运" (check-in luggage),
"延误" (delayed), "到达" (arrival), and "离开" (departure).

**Grammar and Sentence Structure (5 minutes)**

5. Introduce basic sentence structures and questions:

- "我要去机场。" (I want to go to the airport.)
- "我在哪里登机?" (Where do I board?)
- "我需要护照吗?" (Do I need my passport?)
- "行李在哪里托运?" (Where do I check my luggage?)

**Listening and Speaking (5 minutes)**

6. Use audio or video materials to simulate an airport scenario. Let the student listen
to announcements, and then ask comprehension questions.

**Role Play (5 minutes)**

7. Conduct a role play scenario where the student plays a traveler at an airport, and
you play an airport staff member. This will help them apply what they've learned.

**Closure (5 minutes)**

8. Summarize the key points of the lesson.

9. Provide the student with some common travel-related phrases or expressions as a
takeaway.

**Homework (if applicable)**

Assign relevant homework, such as writing a short paragraph about a recent or

imaginary trip to the airport using the vocabulary and sentence structures learned in
the lesson.

**Follow-Up**

In the next lesson, review the vocabulary and concepts covered in this lesson and
continue to build on the student's ability to navigate an airport in Chinese.
