A SEMI – DETAILED LESSON PLAN

Student Teacher: DENIEL C. LATOZA Date: February 21, 2023

Learning Area/Subject: PLANE AND SOLID GEOMETRT Time: 8:00-9:30 AM
Class: BSED MATH – 1A

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students will be able to:
a. Identify the congruent angles when a line transverses parallel lines
b. Define Transversal, Parallel Lines and Congruent angles
c. Demonstrate relationship among angles formed by parallel lines cut by
a transversal.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

A. Topic: Parallel Lines cut by a transversal
B. Reference: Mathematics Learners Module p. 442-445
C. Materials: Instructional Materials, White Board, Marker and Chalk
D. Strategies: Interactive and Discovery Approach

III. PROCEDURE

A. Preparatory Activities (2 minutes)

1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of Attendance

B. Developmental Activity (5 minutes)

1. Review on the previous lesson

- What are the properties of Quadrilateral?
- What are the Conditions that makes a Quadrilateral a
Parallelogram?
- What are the properties of Parallelogram?
C. Motivation (3 minutes)

Make me!!!
The teacher will volunteer to illustrate the following;
- Illustrate a pair of parallel lines on the board
- Draw a Transversal line that cut the parallel lines
previously drawn.

D. Activity (3 minutes)
The class will be split into four groups: And it’s group are expected to
do the following
▪ Draw a horizontal line and Label it as line I
▪ Draw another horizontal line below the line I and name it as line
K
▪ Draw a diagonal line, intersecting the two line: line I and line K
name it as line T.
▪ Name the points of intersecting as point x and y respectively

E. Analysis (5 minutes)
Guide questions:
1. Are angle 3 and 6 interior or not?
2. Are the two angles placed on the opposite sides of the
Transversal?
3. What other pair of angles which has the some characteristics
with the angle 3 and angle 6?
4. What are those angles located outside the figure.

F. Abstraction (30 minutes)

Discussion on the following:
1. Definition of parallel lines and Transversals
▪ Parallel Lines – parallel lines are coplanar lines that do
not intersect
▪ Transversal – a Transversal is a line intersecting two or
more coplanar lines at different points
2. Angles formed by Transversal
▪ Interior Angles
▪ Exterior Angles
▪ Corresponding Angles
▪ Alternate Interior Angles
▪ Alternate Exterior Angles
▪ Interior Angles on the same side
▪ Exterior Angles on the same side
3. Relationship among angles formed by parallel lines cut by a
transversal
▪ Corresponding angles are congruent
▪ Alternate interior angles are congruent
▪ Alternate exterior angles are congruent
▪ Interior Angles on the same side are supplementary
▪ Exterior angles on the same side are supplementary

G. Application (10 minutes)

Direction: Identify the following pairs of angles whether alternate interior
angles, alternate exterior angles and corresponding angles. Write AT for
alternate angles, ET for alternate exterior angles and CT for corresponding
angles.

1.angle 3 and angle 6

2. angle 2 and angle 7
3. angle 4 and angle 8
4. angle 1 and angle 5
5. angle 1 And angle 8

IV. EVALUATION (15 minutes)

Part 1. Direction: Use the diagram of the two parallel lines below to answer questions 1-3

1. Angle A and Angle D are called?

2. Angle B and Angle D are called?
3. Angle C and Angle D are called?

Part 2. Direction: use the diagram below to answer question 4-6

4. Name all the angles that would be congruent to angle C if and only
if lines E and F are parallel.
5. Assume line I and M are parallel, and lines E and F are parallel.
List all the angles that would be congruent to angle K.
6. Assume we do not know if any of the lines in the figure above are
parallel. Determine which of the following angle relationships
would prove lines E and F parallel. For each of the problem,
explain why or why not.
a. Angle A is congruent to Angle J
b. Angle A is congruent to Angle C
c. Angle D is congruent to Angle T
d. Angle G is congruent to Angle P
e. Angle N is congruent to Angle W
f. Angle A plus Angle Q is equal to 180 degrees
g. Angle K plus Angel N is equal to 180 degrees

V. ASSIGNMENT

polygons .
