Scarcity of Cooking Oil in Kendari City

Cooking oil is part of the ingredients used to make dishes in the community. Cooking
oil has many benefits for the community, including the presence of cooking oil can
produce dishes which incidentally are daily food consumed by the community. With
these various benefits, so that cooking oil becomes an important cooking ingredient in
society, the many benefits that cooking oil has so that the use of cooking oil becomes
a problem in society at this time. This is due to the scarcity of cooking oil supplies in
various shopping centers, ranging from stock vacancies to very rapid price increases,
causing public unrest.

At this time, the problem of cooking oil is being widely circulated in the community,
especially in the Kendari city and surrounding areas, the scarcity and increase in
cooking oil prices have caused many people to complain because they can no longer
use cooking oil as usual. In addition to ordinary people, this also has an impact on
restaurants that provide menus that use cooking oil. Many restaurants are also
increasing the price of their food higher than the usual price. Because of the many
benefits and impacts of the increase in cooking oil, this is what causes the scarcity of
cooking oil to have become a serious problem in the community.

The solution that can be done to overcome this problem is for the community, public
awareness is needed to stabilize cooking oil prices. The community should not take
advantage of the problems that occur by hoarding cooking oil, not buying in large
quantities and then reselling it at a higher price. Every society's awareness of this is
very necessary so that the problem can be resolved.
Another solution that can be done for the government, the government should be more
concerned about the things that happen in the community. The government should set
the market price of cooking oil at a price that is not burdensome for the community,
the price fixing is carried out in all regions so that the stability of the cooking oil
market price can be evenly distributed. The government should also urge, act tough,
and impose sanctions if there are elements who distribute cooking oil above the
predetermined price in all regions so that they get a deterrent effect and do not benefit
in the midst of community difficulties.

So, the conclusion is that the problems that occur at this time, especially in the
Kendari city area regarding the scarcity and high price increase of cooking oil can be
overcome with the cooperation of both the government and the community. The role
of the government that can overcome this problem is to set market prices
simultaneously in each region so that the stability of cooking oil prices can be resolved
and to impose strict sanctions on individuals who take advantage of the problem for
personal gain so that they are deterred from doing so. While the role of the
community that should be done is to realize that cooking oil should be used according
to the dose, and not hoarding cooking oil. In my opinion, this solution can overcome
this problem if the government and the community can work together so that the
stability of cooking oil prices can occur again.
