Many manufactured food and drink products contain high levels of sugar, which causes

many health problems. Sugary products should be made more expensive to encourage
people to consume less sugar.
Do you agree or disagree?

These days, the sugar levels of many processed foods and drinks tend to be so high that
lead to a variety of health issues. Some people suggested that sugary products’ prices
should be raised to reduce the consumption of sugar. I completely disagree with this opinion.
First of all, if factories increase the cost of their sugary products, it means that poor people
will suffer from hardship time, since sugar is the familiar seasoning for cooking and it also
provides us with necessary energy throughout the day. Moreover, increasing the cost of
sweetened products can create an unbalanced market that has a strong influence on the
country’s average economy. As a result, manufactured sugar food or drink will become
redundant due to its high price and the market will turn into a chaotic place.
Secondly, to minimize such high levels of sugar, the most crucial step is to raise the
awareness of citizens, as well as provide knowledge of the nutritional information that is
labeled on the products. Also, the government should restrict the amount of sugar that
factories should be contained in their goods. For example, a can of coke’s sugar amount
needs to be around 35gram, and in case one company produces higher, they will get the fine
for it. Last but not least, more talks and presentations about sugar levels and how it affects
our health can be a good solution. It will contribute to the worldwide’s understanding about
things we take in to our body.
In conclusion, I would argue that sugary products should be sold more costly in terms of
lower sugar intake.
