Opinion if needed
Nowadays many foods and drinks include high levels of unhealthy substances. A lot of the products on the market
currently contain sugar in high levels which cause many health issues. Some people claim that raising the price of
foods and drinks that have sugar in them would discourage people to buy them and thus they would consume less
sugar. Increasing the price of sugary products will deter some people to buy these consumables, however, I believe
that there are better ways to do that.

Increasing the price of sugary products will definitely have an effect on the consumers, although it might not always
be a good one. When one raises the price of an item, some people cannot afford it anymore, however, it also makes
the item more wanted since not everyone can have access to it. For example, it is proven that in psychology when a
product is made more inaccessible more people desire it. Therefore, if companies make their sugary products more
expensive some people will not be able to buy them but it will also make the same products more popular.

In contrast to that, there are many better ways to discourage the general public from eating too much sugary foods
and drinks. One of the best solutions would be to impose taxes on companies that manufacture products which
contain higher levels of sugar and other unhealthy substances in their products. As a result, companies will rather
opt to produce healthier products than unhealthy ones and that would mean that more healthy products would be
on the market. Another option which would encourage people to consume less unhealthy foods, would be to raise
awareness of the harms that consuming those products causes. The government could endorse healthy eating and
create educational programs at schools, teaching children about the dangers of sugary products. Following this
trend, these kids would grow up being aware of the harms and be discouraged to consume them as much as before.

Taking everything into consideration, there are far better ways to deal with the issue of people consuming to many
sugary products than raising the price of them. My personal belief is that raising awareness and imposing taxes on
companies are better ways to deal with this issue.
