Curriculum leadership is the process and way of implementing the curriculum in school
through the application of teaching pedagogies. Moreover, it is how the teachers facilitate and
manage his or her class while he or she is delivering lessons. Like a team that has goals,
curriculum leadership also aims for the learning goals and objectives which determine the
success of the curriculum.
Curriculum leaders perform important tasks, such as planning the lessons, activities,
and evaluation of curriculum. Initially, curriculum leaders formulate learning objectives that are
measurable and attainable. Also, teachers as curriculum leaders does not only implement what
is inside the curriculum, because they also formulate their own strategies in the delivery of
lessons. They also face the challenge of making sure that the learning materials are
appropriate and suitable for the learners. This is why they need to make their teaching strategy
as individualized and contextualized as possible. Therefore, they also guide the students’
learning by determining their individual learning styles.
Moreover, they are the ones who instruct what the learners need to do to achieve the
learning goals being set. They also must keep track on the students’ progress in the form of
evaluation. However, their role does not stop with the evaluation. They must achieve
consistency of students’ learning and make sure to conduct remediation or remediating the
curriculum itself. Teachers serve as a compass for which the students follow their direction to
be in a right path, and to successfully achieve the learning objectives.
