Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environment and its
protection. It was first held on April 22, 1970 and now includes a wide range of events
coordinated globally.Earth day is celebrated in more than 193 countries including India. To
celebrate our mother nature the School of Life and Basic Sciences organized International Earth
Day, on 22 April 2022 in colabration of IQAC.The theme of the event was ‘Invest in Our

Planate’ 32 students of the school participated in the event. The event was evoked by
the welcome note from Prof. Divya Shrivastva followed by the plantation from chief guest of
honor Honorable chancellor Dr Sandeep Bakshi (Chancellor) and Vice Chancellor Dr. R.L.
Raina (Vice Chancellor). The event was followed by a debate competition. Three
teams participated for and against motion on the topic “Role of Microbes in Protecting the
Environment.”Participants were enlightened about the essentiality of the microbes and their role
in the ecosystem. The event was attended by 80 students The event was a great success and was
concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Indrani Jadhav. After the event Students were
requested to provide their essential feedback on the event where they suggested that plantation
activity should be conducted on a regular basis within as well as outside the campus for green
initiative.
