An object sliding down an incline plane (with
friction)
Fnet= Fu-mgsinθ-ff= ma
EXAMPLES
1. A wooden block of mass 3 kg is released from
rest on a rough plane that is inclined at 25° above the
horizontal. The coefficient of friction between the
block and the plane is 0.4. Find the acceleration of
the block.
2. A man applies a force of 200N to pull a 10 kg
block up an incline plane with an angle of 30o to the
horizontal. The coefficient of kinetic friction
between the block and the plane is 0.5.
a) Draw a free body diagram
b) Determine the value of the normal force
c) Determine the value of the net force up the
incline
d) The acceleration for this motion
e) The speed with which the block is moving with,
assuming it takes 6 seconds to reach the top of
the incline.
