lesson.

Teacher will point to each blend for students to read chorally.

Students will read the blends chorally.

TEACHING/ACTIVE 1. Phonological Awareness


ENGAGEMENT ● Oral blending of Phonemes - bl, cl, fl, pl, gl and sl
● Segmentation - b-l, c-l, f-l. g-l. s-l
15 minutes ● “Say wblank.” “Sound wblank.”
2. Phonics and Decodable Words
● Introduce - Present the sound in an example sentence, have the students say the sound,
and have students prove the word
● Review - (Mix order.) “Sound.” “Again.” fl, pl, bl, cl, sl
● Blending Decodable Words - plums plants plan plot slim plump clad clip plus glad plop

3. Read the passage: Plums Fiction; Lesson 18: L-Blends

4. Fluency Practice - Have the students read passage tilted Plum three times and then read.
Teacher will guide students through the structured lesson by saying the words and offering instruction
such as read, blend, segment.

Students will follow the guidance of the teacher and participate in reading and blending activities.

LINK Wrap up the lesson, by having students read passage aloud.

5 minutes Students will read the passage again iin Classkick and highlight the blends.

DIFFERENTIATION ● Use of Elevate Slides loaded in Newrow


● Teacher will be conferencing with individual students, checking for understanding and
assessing ability.

ASSESSMENTS ● Entry level assessment completed at the beginning of the student entry to determine which
level to start
● Formal progress monitoring to be completed around every 10 lessons
● Informal progress monitoring is done in each lesson. Teacher moves students into breakout
rooms listening to independent reading.
