1. Write the narra ve for your demographic pro le followed by your references list.
• Includes the estimated total population, median age, sex (percentages), race/ethnicity (percentages),
median income, and one other variable of interest for both communities (percentages) (2 pts each for
accuracy; total = 24 pts; 8 pts for clarity)
• Discuss the similari es and di erences throughout the narra ve (10 pts for accuracy; 10 pts for

This part of the Homework Assignment will be completed in Excel. This means that you will submit your Excel
spreadsheet AND this document for this week’s assignment.
Begin by going to data.census.gov and selec ng Table B03002│ Hispanic or La no origin by race. Next select
both of your communi es but exit out United States from your lter.
Save this table because you will complete items 1-9 in Excel and then submit the Excel le in Canvas. For
each ques on that requires a calcula on, you must show your calcula ons in Excel. You will not receive points
if you simply have a number in the cell!

I did realize the percentage for both communi es when it came to the “Not Hispanic or La no” Column were
pre y close which didn’t really suprise me since I have lived in both communi es and have witnessed it rst
hand. Also the the Hispanic and La no comparison was very o , I mean it was 4.16% to 14.44% which
shocked me a li le bit. I realized while doing this assignment that I am learning certain things more and more
each day about these communi es that I would’ve never guessed while living there. I feel pre y great about
this project.
